Announcing our newest BRB dancers!

Joining the main Company this season are Luciano Ghidoli, who joins from Finnish National Ballet, Ixan Ferrer and Sophie Walters, who become Artists following the successful completion of their time with BRB2, and Airi Kobayashi and Gillian Whittall, who performed with the Company during the 2025/26 season.

We're also thrilled to welcome a new cohort to BRB2: Mikel Arana Arzak (Conservatório Internacional de Ballet e Dança Annarella Sanchez); Jacopo Biancucci (John Cranko School and Accademia Teatro alla Scala), who joins after performing with us during the 2025/26 season; Noah Campbell, Sophia Koo, Addison Partlow, Martha Savin and Denis Teixeira (all from The Royal Ballet School); and Samuel Pereira (Conservatório Internacional de Ballet e Dança Annarella Sanchez). Alfie-Lee Hall also joins BRB2 following his graduation from his Apprentice year.

We're delighted to welcome Ted (Heng-Yu) Peng as this year's Elmhurst Apprentice.

Congratulations to everyone on these exciting new chapters. We can't wait to see you all on stage this season!

This summer, Carlos Acosta returns to the Royal Opera House with an extraordinary cast of artists from Birmingham Royal Ballet and Acosta Danza, joined by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, for an unmissable celebration of dance.

Across the programme, audiences can look forward to:

🩰 Carlos Acosta making his debut in José Limón's The Moor's Pavane, alongside Birmingham Royal Ballet's Max Maslen, Miki Mizutani and Beatrice Parma.

🧑‍🩰 The first performance of the Nutcracker in Havana suite featuring Carlos Acosta, joined by Birmingham Royal Ballet's Enrique Bejarano Vidal and Beatrice Parma, alongside dancers from Acosta Danza.

🩰 Birmingham Royal Ballet's Katherine Ochoa and Yasiel Hodelín Bello performing the virtuosic Diana and Acteon pas de deux.

🧑‍🩰 Carlos Acosta and Acosta Danza Principal Amisaday Naara performing the intimate duet Nosotros.

🩰 Carlos Acosta reprising the lead role in Christopher Bruce's Rooster, performed with the dancers of Acosta Danza.

The Royal Ballet Sinfonia will perform live under the lead of Birmingham Royal Ballet's Music Director, Paul Murphy.

Introducing the Royal Ballet Sinfonia's Student-in-Residence, Jessica Hannah!

The Student-in-Residence role was created by Music Director Paul Murphy to give a student from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire the opportunity to play with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia for a year, attending rehearsals at Henry Wood Hall in London and in the pit for stage rehearsals at Birmingham Hippodrome.

Mentoring and lessons with the section principal player is also included within the year, and an audition for extra work at the end of the tenure.

Jessica, who plays the clarinet, speaks to us about what she has been able to experience as part of this opportunity, and what she loves most about playing music for dancers.

Our 2025/26 season is officially over, and our dancers are now on summer break!

Before we all enjoy our summer, though, we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that has engaged with Birmingham Royal Ballet this season.
