We at Ascendancy Festival would like to wish our fellow Director a very merry Birthday. David James Coxsell from HeartWork Clothing joined the festival team 2 years ago and quickly fell in love with what we did at Breaking Bands Festival and has been a driving force in the rebranding to Ascendancy, the amazing artwork creations, the festival app and the Descendants Lair. ⚠️FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT TIME⚠️
THE ROAD TO ASCENDANCY BEGINS...

The first ever Road to Ascendancy is coming - and this is where the journey to our debut festival truly begins. Our battle of the bands launches online at the end of September this year, and eight finalists will fight it out live for the chance to open the very first Ascendancy Festival.

We’re taking the final right into the centre of Birmingham, just steps from Black Sabbath Bridge. On Saturday 27th March 2027, the upstairs venue at O’Neill’s, Broad Street becomes our battleground - eight bands, one secret headline guest, and one massive decision to make.

The location couldn’t be easier: right by the tram stop, ten minutes from New Street Station, next door to the Travelodge, and surrounded by hotels, food, and everything you need for a full day in the city.

You get the power to decide. Everyone in the room gets a vote, and we’ll crown the winner on the night. If you want a say in who opens Ascendancy Festival, this is your moment.

Tickets drop soon at £13, or £8 for full Descendant members.

We’re really excited about this 250 capacity live music venue right in the heart of the City - and this is just the start. Expect more parties, more gatherings, and more Ascendancy energy throughout the year.

Ascendancy has always been about everyone who grows with it, and that includes the kids. While the adults step into the Descendants, we wanted to make sure the younger crowd had something that feels like theirs too. They’re the future of this festival, and giving them their own kinship just made sense.

So we’re launching The Kin - our under‑18 kinship for the next generation of Ascendancy.

Every young festival‑goer can join, whether they’re here for the full weekend or just the day.
Each Kin member gets their own membership card, a branded gym bag, guitar picks, stickers, and a silicone wristband - a simple way of saying they’re part of this world just as much as anyone else.

The Kin will be available to all under‑18s for £10 online and includes postage.

So we had a day in Birmingham yesterday flyer dropping in some great shops and venues, making new connections and also getting a few more things sorted out. Here's a teaser for you all

Massive thank you to Firevolt MCR for placing our festival line-up on their big screen between bands. Its gestures like this that help the festival scene work and survive.

We introduced this year our festival flyer corner for people to promote other events in a controlled area rather than flyers that just get blown around in the wind causing more clean up work at the end of the weekend.

We shall be doing even more next year to cross promote festivals because we are one community and we should all be working together.

Come on Scotland, Ireland, East Anglia, South East... where you all at? This is the map of ticket holders so far. Obviously plenty around the Midlands as we are the only rock festival with camping in Birmingham. We'll add the bands pins to the map later in the year as that will make things interesting too
