As you may or may not know after making the decision to change direction in 2017, I took a couple of years out spending time volunteering in the local community in particular with the isolated and vulnerable elderly.

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to take up a part time role as Activities and Engagement Officer at a care facility housing 54 residents age between 65 and 99.

Unfortunately 6 weeks into the role we had 'lockdown'. Our residents have now been isolated in their rooms for over 8 weeks. No group activities permitted!

I have tried to be as creative as possible in engaging residents from quizzes, sunflower growing competitions, corridor singalongs (difficult due to the design of the buildings), cake, ice cream and alcohol trolley runs, bunker bingo, live entertainment in the grounds, VE Day celebrations (special thanks to PSP AV who set up a PA/speaker all around the grounds), various in room craft activities, Easter raffles etc.

So I am calling on your help as I am running out of ideas.

As you can imagine very little budget has been given for these activities so I rely on donations and fundraising.

Any activity/engagement ideas would be greatly appreciated, no matter how crazy to wacky. residents already see me as the 'mad' woman🌈🥰

St David's House & Queens Cottage Tenants will be beating the "Lockin Blues" and "Boogying" with The Boogaloo Babes.

We are delighted to be hosting our very own VE Day Broadcast, this Friday 8 May (14.00-17.00) with an unusual Street Party.

Our Tenants will put on their "Gladrags" and be ready to wave those red, white and blue flags and blow their party horns from their doors, windows, gardens and balconies whilst celebrating together.

Sadly, we cannot step out but can step in time to well worn Wartime Classics along with songs from the 60s and 70s.

Our Tenants will enjoy a Trolley Service to their rooms of snacks, drinks and some yummy cupcakes. Thanks to amazing donations and some of the St David's Team volunteering to help lift the spirits of our lovely Tenants.

Every part of St David's and Queens Cottages will hear the show thanks to PSP who are donating time and equipment (https://pspav.com/).

Speakers will be located around the main building and cottages so that our broadcast reaches all Tenants.

We would love the to singalong from their houses and gardens and join us in celebrating VE Day!

Happy 80th Birthday to one of our lovely residents!

Unfortunately we could not have the planned party, but we got out the best china, blew up the balloons, indulged in some cake and had a bit of a "Boogie"

The St David's Team all joined together and sang
"Happy Birthday"
