What. A. Day.

Saturday (1 Aug) saw the return of Blues Fest to Platform at Millennium Point, all as part of the 42nd Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival. And wow, what a time we had.

The music took us from Chicago to the south, and back, all in one day.

Saturday's the day! Blues Fest returns to Millennium Point with a full lineup running from 1pm right through to 7:45pm.

The Shufflepack open things up, followed by the Honeyboy Hickling Blues Band, then Brad Henshaw brings the Americana and Southern Rock, before Get Loose closes out the night.

VSFighting XIV is here, and it's taking over Millennium Point all weekend. Gamers will battle it out for trophies and cash prizes.

Hosted by , this is the Midlands' biggest fighting game tournament, running 24th to 26th July.

Competitors of every level are going head to head on the big stage, from total beginners to seasoned pros.

If you're around Birmingham this weekend, come and soak up the atmosphere. Millennium Point now has a brand new Metro stop, under two mins walk away, so we're easy to get to!

There's a lab on our ground floor where people learn to build careers in science, some straight out of school, some in their 50s starting over. CSR Scientific Training runs it, alongside an AI humanoid called Ada who helps with the teaching. How cool is that?

Most people assume apprenticeships are a backup plan; CSR will tell you that's nonsense. Life sciences bring in over £90 billion a year to the UK, and barely 2,000 apprenticeships open up annually to meet that. There's a gap, and it needs filling. What CSR does is a solid start.

Last week we welcomed hundreds of students from schools across the region for SciSPACE 2026, a day dedicated to space, aerospace and aviation.

Delivered by Elevation X as part of the SciSERIES, the day gave students hands-on time with exhibitors including The Air League, Birmingham City University, Aston University and STEM Learning.

They built and launched rockets, trained like astronauts, took on a space-themed quiz, and caught live shows including Freezing Humans and Team Moon. There was even a presentation by real life astronaut Dr Meganne Christian!

SciSPACE follows SciENGINEERING, SciTECH and SciMED, each one built to put young people in front of careers and pathways they might not otherwise come across at school.
