What does it take to deploy to the other side of the world at a moment’s notice?

In June, a 68-strong UK International Search and Rescue (UK ISAR) team deployed to Venezuela following devastating earthquakes, carrying out systematic searches of collapsed structures using specialist equipment and canine search teams to locate survivors.

At The Emergency Services Show 2026, hear directly from members of the team about what it takes to volunteer for an international deployment, prepare to leave at short notice and operate in incredibly challenging conditions far from home.

The session will explore the realities behind an international search and rescue deployment, from the demands placed on personnel to the teamwork, specialist skills and resilience required when responding to a major disaster.

Flooding can place enormous pressure on emergency responders, from urban fire services dealing with widespread disruption to mountain and lowland rescue teams responding in some of the most challenging environments.

Over the last decade, objective feedback has helped improve CPR compression quality by giving crews greater insight into rate, depth and chest compression performance. Increasingly, the resuscitation community is asking whether manual ventilation deserves the same level of attention.

Recent work presented through the Royal College of Paramedics has sparked discussion around ventilation consistency, guideline compliance and the role of objective feedback in both training and clinical practice.
