Today's equipment. I've been quiet lately, having broken my wrist, followed four weeks later with a broken shoulder. Today I'm off to Fife and am considering the technique of handfasting (in French) with a splint and a sling ... wish me luck!!

You don't need fancy hotels and 100s of people for the perfect wedding. Ash and Andrew just had the perfect wedding. Just the two them, in the magical Yew Tree Circle at Traquair House. Simply beautiful.

It was a real privilege to say farewell to the wonderful Eleanor Weir today in West Linton - a much loved lady, as could be seen by the huge turnout who came to pay their respects. Eleanor and I had written the ceremony together a couple of years ago, at her request, so that she could be sure that she would be remembered as she wanted, and all the stories that she wanted to be shared would be shared. At the age of 89, she also wanted her final song to be Abba's Dancing Queen - and it was.

Run free Eleanor, West Linton's very own dancing queen. She'll be sair missed.

A beautiful day for a beautiful wedding! Marine and Caroline had the most amazing wedding day. It was a first for me to share it with a Clan Chief, who did a traditional handfasting ceremony complete with swords and six different ribbons. We then went on to the main ceremony (all in French, bien sur), with hearfelt and very emotional vows and a toast from the quaich which was meant to be for the happy couple, but ended up being for all the guests as well. After all, they'd all come from France, and they had to see how a really good Scottish wedding is done!!

But my goodness it was hot ... I wish I hadn't worn my tartan dresscoat ...

After all those cool grey skies we've had, what a glorious day for the wedding of Marine and Caroline, who came to McArthur Manor near Blairgowrie all the way from France. They wanted a traditional Scottish ceremony, and they surely got it, as they were piped in to a handfasting by a Clan Chief, followed by yours truly marrying them in French.
The quaich was so full of whisky that it went round all the guests as well!
A beautiful day for a beautiful couple.
