Together, we have marked history on Sunday 5 July 2026.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone—brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends from our local community—who came to be part of this very special occasion as we honoured and celebrated 138 years of faithful witness at New Road Methodist Church.
Your presence was a tremendous encouragement which made us feel that we are not walking this journey alone, but belong to the much bigger family of God. We worship a God of love whose love was seen and felt among us, and we have every living hope in our risen Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who will lead us into a new season of blessings upon us.
Today we also gave special thanks to our long-serving and deeply valued stewards, whose faithful dedication, time and energy have enabled this church to fulfil its mission and ministry over many years. We were honoured to have our Deputy Mayor, Cllr John Jones, present gifts to them in recognition of their service.
Our sincere thanks also go to Rev Margaret Eaton, Rev Anne Coates, and Rev Andrew Webb for leading different parts of the service with such wisdom, warmth and grace. You helped transform what could have been a difficult and emotional farewell into a day filled with thanksgiving, laughter, celebration and hope.
Today marked the end of this building as a place of worship—but not the end of God's Church. The Church has never been about bricks and mortar; it has always been about God's people. Nothing of essential value has been lost.
God's love will continue.
Our fellowship will continue.
Our service and mission will continue.
And the good news of Jesus Christ will continue to be proclaimed.
As one chapter closes, another begins. Let us walk together into a new road ahead, with renewed faith, hope and love.
"To God be the glory, great things He has done." ❤️🙏
