The final, official total raised by A Night For Martyn is an unbelievable…

£30,570.85.

In just a few short months, what began as an idea to honour Martyn has grown into something far bigger than any of us could ever have imagined.

Local businesses donated prizes, services, time and money. Volunteers gave up countless hours. Thousands of raffle tickets were bought and sold. People bid generously, shared every post, helped behind the scenes and supported us in more ways than we could possibly list.

Every single person played a part in reaching this incredible total.

All £30,570.85 has been raised for The Fire Fighters Charity, in the name of our hero, Martyn, on what would have been his 40th birthday.

Of course, the money raised will make a genuine difference but this became about so much more than a number. It showed just how loved Martyn was, how many lives he touched and what can happen when an entire community comes together for someone who meant so much to so many.

There will never be enough words to properly thank everyone who helped make A Night For Martyn what it became. Whether you donated, volunteered, sponsored, attended, bought a ticket, shared a post or simply supported us along the way, this total belongs to all of you.

We set out to give Martyn the celebration he deserved.

I think it’s safe to say we did him proud.

The raffle results are finally in… and what a list it is… Over 120 winners!!

Firstly, a huge thank you to every person and business who donated a prize, and to everyone who bought or sold raffle tickets. Your support made this raffle far bigger than we ever imagined.

A message from Kelly: Please bear with us while we get everything organised. With up to 10,000 tickets and just one person working through them, some of the prize descriptions were shortened simply to make things easier on the night. If you’re unsure about anything listed, please message the page for more information.

I’ll distribute as many prizes personally as I can, but generally, collection will be from Bicester Car and Van Rental. Collections will begin on Monday to give us time to organise everything. If you’re not local, please message us and we’ll sort something with you.

The deadline for collecting prizes is 30th September. Anything not collected by then will be donated to charity.

Finally, if you don’t want your prize, please let us know so we can draw another winner.

The pictures are back… and here’s a little sneak peek 👀

So many brilliant moments captured from A Night for Martyn from the arrivals and auction to the speeches, laughs and everything in between.

If you attended the event, we’ll be contacting you by email with a link to the full gallery. If you don’t hear from us, please drop the page a message and we’ll make sure it reaches you.

A quick correction because it seems the familiar ‘publish first, check later’ approach has struck again.

This morning, the Bicester Advertiser published coverage of A Night for Martyn both in print and on social media without the facts, figures or photographs being checked or approved by the event organisers or family.

To be absolutely clear, A Night for Martyn did not raise £15,000. That figure relates solely to the auction sales on the night. We are still carefully counting every raffle ticket, donation and contribution before announcing the official final total.

Reporting the auction figure as the total raised overlooks the hundreds of people who bought and sold raffle tickets, donated prizes, gave their time and supported the event in countless other ways. We will not allow their contribution to be reduced to an inaccurate headline.

Photographs featuring members of Martyn’s family were also published without their knowledge or approval. The Facebook post was eventually removed after being live for around two hours, but unfortunately the story and photographs had already gone to print.

We are incredibly proud of what everyone achieved for A Night for Martyn, and the full, accurate total will be announced by us once every penny has been counted.

Until then, please disregard any figures reported elsewhere.

Handmade by Jack Rodgers Workshop from decommissioned fire hose and created especially in memory of Martyn, they’re £10 each with every penny going to The Fire Fighters Charity and being added to our final fundraising total.

Orders must be placed by the end of this week, so send the page a private message if you’d like one.

Bringing in a MASSIVE £14,085

The atmosphere in the room was amazing, with some serious bidding wars and a few genuinely breathtaking winning bids. A massive thank you to everyone who got involved and dug deep for such an important cause.

A special thank you to our amazing auctioneer for the evening, Aaron Williams. Keeping everything moving and helping us squeeze every last bid out of the room was no small job, but he was brilliant from start to finish.

Raffle update: the extra 2,500 tickets have now all been written out and separated, ready for the draw. Winners will be announced on this page tomorrow.

Prizes can be collected from Bicester Car & Van Rental. If you’re not local, please contact us to arrange an alternative.

A few more updates following Friday’s incredible night…

A HUGE thank you to RD Catering Services and their team, who worked unbelievably hard to feed a room full of people and keep everything running smoothly. Their waiting staff then generously donated their wages, adding another incredible £500 to our fundraising total.

Thank you also to Peter Goss Butchers for the amazing discount on the meat, Acrobat Vehicle Rental for giving us a day’s hire free of charge and Hayley on the fruit and veg stall for supplying the vegetables at a discounted price. Every contribution made a difference.

A quick update on the Jack Rodgers Workshop orders too: all postal orders have now been sent. Everyone else should have been contacted, but please get in touch if you haven’t heard from us.

Firstly, thank you. Friday night was more incredible than we could ever have imagined, and we’re still trying to take it all in.

We promise all auction totals, raffle winners and the final fundraising figure are coming, but after selling another 2,500 raffle tickets on the night!!!, there’s a mammoth amount of admin to get through first.

If you didn’t collect your pin badge or tally, please get in touch. Anything due to be posted will be sent on Tuesday.

Today is for Kelly and her family to remember Martyn together, followed by a much-needed Bank Holiday breather.

We’ll be back with everything as soon as we’ve recovered! 🙏🏼
