Big news… we’ve just been featured on ✨

Twenty years ago Emma and Will (our owners) exchanged vows at Tythe not knowing then that it would one day become the heart of so many other love stories. The place where they first said ‘I Do!’ has been featured on the wonderful who share their story from newlyweds to proud owners of “one of the UK’s top barn venues.”

Emma reflects on what made the day truly special and looks at what they might do differently were they to get married again today. So much has changed at Tythe over the years including new preparation barns, the addition of our cosy Shepherds Hut, transformation of The Thatched Barn and Cowshed and the incredible refurbishment of Will’s old family home - The Farmhouse - accommodation for couples and their families all set on the Tythe estate. With this new space comes an extended celebration… we can accommodate as many days as you’d like to spend at Tythe…

The Tythe Barn, Launton

Built between 1360 and 1370, the historical Tythe Barn at Launton still retains the majority of its 22 foot original beams. The wonderful stone walls are an amazing 4.5 foot thick in parts. The roof was first thatched with reeds from the nearby Otmoor water plains and has only recently required re-thatching. In the past, The Tythe Barn would have stored all the produce provided by the local people and a percentage of this would have been passed on to the landlord as a form of rent - hence the name Tythe. Now with the magical touch of its owners, the barn has been transformed into the perfect space for weddings, events and celebrations.
