More than sixty years after they were painted, Joan Eardley's remarkable works continue to move and inspire audiences through their energy, honesty and extraordinary connection to the natural world.

🌊 Joan Eardley: The Sea at Catterline invites visitors to experience the drama of Scotland's coastline through bold colour, rich texture and expressive brushwork, revealing the beauty, strength and emotion found in every painting.

🎬 Screening this weekend: Culture Above and Beyond: RSA200 Moving Image Programme

To accompany Joan Eardley: The Sea at Catterline, we're delighted to present this special programme of artists’ films celebrating rural and wild landscapes at Maltings Cinema at Berwick Barracks.

Curated by painter and filmmaker Ronald Forbes RSA, the programme showcases work by Royal Scottish Academicians and RSA award winners as part of the Royal Scottish Academy’s 200th anniversary celebrations.

We’re kicking off the month with National Cinema Weekend this Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 September, when tickets for all films are just £4! 🎟️

There’s plenty more to look forward to throughout September, from Tony, The End of Oak Street and Don’t Look Back in Anger, to Exhibition on Screen: James McNeill Whistler, NT Live: The Misanthrope and Pressure.
