Testing the Canon G1X in St Albans.

It's a 2012 camera that still holds up well, these are converted RAWs, although the jpegs look good. The camera is a little sluggish and focusing slow, occasionally hunting like a drunk trying to find his keys on the floor.

Being a 1.5" type sensor is large enough to give shallow depth of field, even with the 28-112mm lens (full frame FoV equivalent) and a variable maximum aperture of f/2.8-5.8. It's a fun little camera to take out, but also frustrating to use, improved in the later models i believe.

Very sad to learn of the death of Martin Parr today. He's one of those photographers that when you see his images you either love him or... If you do you are transfixed, the observations about British society especially, make you laugh and think.

Very interesting man to listen to, and had the privilege in 2009 at the V&A to hear him talk. Such a calm and quiet man, no ego just and interested in people and their behaviours.

If you like Parr's style i'm pretty sure we've all had a go at copying the style either subconsciously or the occasionally consciously and when i've done it i've smiled to myself a the time. For someone unassuming, introverted and quiet he saw people and represented them as they are.

Bye, bye Mr Parr.

Ever wondered how Tower Bridge maintains its iconic Glass Floors? Watch this exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the replacement of the sacrificial glass layer! Filmed on a beautiful sunny June evening, I captured the entire 6-hour process, from removing the old, scratched layer to installing and sealing the new one, which was completed the following day.

We spoke with Richard Smith, Exhibition Manager at Tower Bridge and Ken Branscome of G&G Glass and Glazing to learn about the process and the reasons for replacing the glass, and why this maintenance is so important. The video also features time-lapse footage showcasing the precision and expertise involved in this intricate glass replacement.

Did you know over 7,258,000 visitors and 4,500 pets have walked across the Glass Floors since their installation in 2014? This sacrificial layer protects the other layers from wear and tear.

Experience the amazing views from the Glass Floors yourself – see London buses, pedestrians, cyclists, and river vessels from a unique perspective!
