A wee before and after from today's ceremony

The Unity Sand Ceremony is always such a special one to include - simple, but full of meaning.

Pamela & James began by pouring their sand together, creating the foundation of their marriage. Then Isla & Charlotte added theirs - each grain completely individual, but now side by side, part of something bigger.

Finally, Pamela & James poured the rest of their sand around them, with the girls right at the centre - exactly where they belong. The heart of their family, surrounded by love.

There’s no perfect way to do this (and yes, sometimes it gets a little messy… but so does life). What matters is that, together, you create something beautiful.

Once it’s sealed, those grains can never be separated again - just like this family from today onwards ✨

It’s never the perfectly posed shot that gets me.
It’s the in-between.

The way she looks at him when he’s mid-conversation. The way he checks she’s okay without saying a word. The tiny smile that slips out when they think no one’s watching.

That’s the good stuff. That’s the real love story.

On a day filled with timelines, details and beautiful chaos… those little glances are everything.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the couples whose love shows up in the smallest, softest moments. 💛

Here’s a question more couples are starting to ask me, and rightly so.

Do I use AI when writing ceremonies?

My answer might surprise you. It's yes... and no.

Your ceremony is never, ever generated, templated, or automated. It’s written from scratch, by me, to make sure it is the perfect ceremony for the couple I have taken the time to get to know.

BUT I do use AI as a supporting tool.

I use it for finding pesky typos before I send your Keepsake script to print.

I think it's great at estimating how long the ceremony I have written will last - important info to help you plan the rest of your day.

And I use it for occasional background research. Because, honestly, I can't remember what was Number One in the charts on 22 August 2014.

Transparency matters. And so does professional pride.

You'll know an honest answer when you hear it.

Day 1: Brand Values

Every year, over on my other account, I make the questionable decision to commit to the Wedding Advent Challenge.

It’s a bit like that pesky Elf — feels like a brilliant idea on Day 1, and by Day 19 you’re wondering why you did this to yourself.

But honestly? It is a lovely way to stay grounded amidst the December chaos. So on this account, I’m not promising all 25 days… but I’ll happily dip in and out when a prompt feels right.

Day 1 is Brand Values. As a Humanist Celebrant, I could list loads — respect, inclusivity, fun, professionalism.

But the top one for me? “Real life.” This picture sums mine up perfectly: absolute, beautiful chaos, every single day… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When it comes to weddings, almost every couple shares a little “something” that makes their love story real. It’s often a detail they think makes their story less magical, so they don’t want it mentioned. I never see it that way. What goes into your ceremony is always your choice, but I adore a Couple’s Story that shows how achingly real your love is.

And frankly, it also makes me feel a whole lot better about the trail of carnage my two terrors will have left behind for me when I get home.

That's a wrap!

2025 weddings all signed, sealed and delivered. Can't wait to share the details of yesterday's amazing day for Chloe and Conor when the pics are ready. It was a day full to the brim with love, laughter and music-induced-tears!

Off to spend quality Christmas time with the family. The years fly by way too quickly to miss out on these magical years.
