Our Northern Ireland team were getting fully into the St Patrick's Day spirit yesterday by leading all the cars out of the parade route in Belfast City Centre .

We delivered Hostile Vehicle Mitigation on the parade route to protect the crowd with the fantastic H-Stop barriers which offer rated protection with quick removal time for allowing any emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, through the closures.

With the announcement of the Road Closure & Traffic Management Plan for the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026, it will be a very busy summer for us across the city and our team is growing!

🎅Delivering a safe Christmas for Belfast🎄

In the early hours of Saturday morning, we commenced a significant Event Traffic Management deployment to enable one of the biggest nights of the year for Belfast, the Christmas Lights Switch On 🎁 and Christmas Market 🎡opening for Belfast City Council

Our team was led by our experienced Event Traffic Manager Ruby Unwin-Marris who on the ground with multiple phases of staff working for over 24 hours to keep Belfast running and people safe. This includes enabling roads to stay open during infrastructure building and then closing completed for the large 11,000 strong crowd to enter the event site outside Belfast City Hall.

Ruby was supported by Supervisors Steve Smith, Steve Overton & Ian Baguley as well as Traffic Management Operatives, Traffic Management Stewards and HVM Stewards.

Our deployment included:

✅No Parking Cone deployments across the City Centre 🅿️
✅Multiple Road Closures & Diversions 🚧
✅Bus Lane Suspensions / Closures 🚏
✅Hostile Vehicle Mitigation for the event site & city centre pedestrian areas from Crowdguard ⛐
✅Production load in vehicle routes & lane closures 🚛
✅Creation of safety zones on live lanes for assembling of staging 🏟
✅Fully rated Manta Barrier to protect pedestrians using temporary walkways beside live lanes 🚶🚶🚶

For the first time, the entire footprint and pedestrian area of the City Centre was protected by fully rated Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) from Crowdguard. Using the versatile H-Stop, this enabled quick and easy closers which maintain 999 access for emergencies, thankfully something we did not need to use on the night!

With the protection of crowds a key talking point with the pending enactment of Martyn's Law legislation, we are bringing the new H-Stop from Hussan to showcase at the The Showman's Show This follows our trials at festivals and events this summer.

The H-Stop offers certified protection against a 3.5 tonne vehicle at 30 mph but also ease of install and removal, perfect for locations where large vehicle access has to be maintained.

Another year, another great success for our event traffic management team at Boardmasters. Our specialist teams ensured over 50,000 people safety got to an iconic event.

2024 also saw a range of additional measures to assist residents in the local area, which worked to clear traffic from the local area and provide free flowing access to residences and businesses nearby.

Our Police Accredited Traffic Officers supported Devon & Cornwall Police across the area, jointly or responding on their behalf to incidents including injury RTCs which did not involve festival traffic. We also supported Cornwall County Council with emergency response to a sink hole which opened up from a collapsed drain in the middle of Newquay Town Centre!
