It's been a super crazy week, but as a venue finder, one of the things I do best is solve problems. From an initial phone call on Tuesday afternoon with a request for accommodation for 120 people, to this morning with numbers increased to 186, this week has entailed countless phone calls and emails, but we got there.
Bookings made ✅
Contracts signed ✅
Invoices paid ✅
We are good to go!
Is it the weekend yet?! 😂

It's been what I can only describe as a bonkers start to August!
Usually at this stage the Summer hols have well and truly kicked in, and enquiries have dropped off, but not this year!
In the last week I've been working on
A gala dinner for 350
A gala dinner for 250
A hotel buyout for a residential conference for 250
5 star hotel bookings across 18 locations in Italy for VIP Olympic Torch bearers
67 training dates for a client across 2026
A 2 day press junket for Sky TV for a new series they are releasing
and lots of other one day smaller enquiries too. Phew!!
I am forever grateful to everyone who puts their trust in me to look after the venue and supplier sourcing for their events, it's an absolute pleasure and privilege to call what I love doing a job.

I wonder what the rest of August will bring?! 😍

I'm spending this week in Portrush, home to the 153rd Open.
I had the pleasure of a site visit yesterday afternoon at the amazing Dunluce Lodge, a 5 star hotel on the North Coast, with stunning views across Royal Portrush Golf Course.
Newly opened in March this year, this 5 star hotel offers 35 suites, including 3 Portrush Suites and 2 Dunluce Suites which are simply WOW!
The soft neutral colours throughout the hotel instil a real sense of calm, and you'd struggle to find better views of the Atlantic Ocean from anywhere else.
The hotel offers a 35 seater restaurant, a library, bar, an outdoor terrace, a putting green and a gorgeous spa.
For those looking for extra privacy, the Stookan is a separate annex with 8 double bedrooms, it's own lounge, catering kitchen, dining area and patio, perfect for incentive trips or larger groups.
The only hotel of it's kind in the area, it's not hard to see why it's been such a draw since launching, and it played host last week to a golfer from Northern Ireland that a few of you may have heard of during his participation at the Open.
This hotel is something really special, my photos don't do it justice, but hopefully they give a feel for what's on offer.

The Venue Hunters is 6 years old today!

Hard to believe it's been 6 years since I took the scary first steps into self-employment, but what a blast it's been.

Huge thanks to all of the amazing clients, venues and suppliers I have worked with during that time, I'm super excited to be kicking off another great year, and look forward to supporting lots of clients, old and new with their venue-finding in 2025 🤩

Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit the fantastic McConnell’s Distillery based at the Crumlin Road Gaol site.
What a brilliant venue it is, from the WOW factor when you walk in, to the wide range of spaces available for hire, the venue ticks so many boxes.

I had a great afternoon yesterday at the beautiful Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle County Down.
Built in 1898 and set in fabulous surroundings with fantastic views of the Mourne Mountains and the sea, the hotel taken over by Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts in 2021 and has undergone quite the transformation since then.
Located right beside Royal County Down Golf Club, home of this years' Irish Open (taking place next week), it is the perfect setting for conferences, meeting and events, golf trips and incentive groups.
Beautifully refurbished following a substantial investment, the hotel has lots of little nods to it's history and it's connection to the local area.
A stunning hotel, with excellent service and a super friendly team, and only an hour from Belfast, it's a great option for anyone looking to escape the city and spend a day (or several) in an amazing setting.
I can't wait to come back! 😍

Great to get a behind the scenes sneak preview of the final build stage for the Irish Open taking place at the Royal County Down golf course next week.
A fantastic set up, and the makings of what is sure to be an awesome event.
So good to see huge events like this taking place in Northern Ireland, with tens of thousands of visitors expected throughout the week, it will drive a huge amount of revenue into local businesses 😍

Venue Spotlight - Weston Park
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of staying at the amazing Weston Park.
Set in 1000 acres of parkland in the Shropshire countryside, the venue is easily accessible from Birmingham City Centre (30 minutes), Birmingham Airport (45 minutes) and Manchester Airport, as well as being accessible from London and the north by train.
From the minute we drove in it just felt special, like jaw-droppingly WOW.
We stayed in the 5 bedroom Victorian Wing, and couldn't fault it. Such a fantastic space, huge bedrooms, all of which were individually decorated, and great communal spaces including the 'Tent Room'.
After a super night's sleep, we were treated to a guided tour of the main house. It's difficult to put into words how wonderful the house is - endless spaces, all of which are unique, with huge windows and loads of daylight streaming in.
This property can cater for anything from small groups to larger events, and they offer exclusive hire for bookings with a minimum of 14 bedrooms.
The main house has 22 bedrooms and you can add the 5 bedrooms in the Victorian Wing to make a total of 27.
There are also a number of smaller self catering holiday cottages on the estate which can be hired separately or in conjunction with the main house.
The opportunities here are endless - incentive trips, product launches, meetings, conferences, client events, parties - you name it, Weston Park can do it.
So, do you need to blow your annual events budget on one night at Weston Park? Absolutely not! The venue is a lot more affordable than you might think!
I can't recommend Weston Park highly enough, we loved every single minute of our time there and will definitely be making a return visit.

Super excited to say that The Venue Hunters is now an official member of the IATA TIDS programme which allows bookings from travel sales intermediaries (agents) to be recognized by industry suppliers from airlines, hotel & resort chains, cruise lines, car rental companies, theme parks, and rail companies globally!
Not too bad for a little business like mine! 😍 💪
