Ulster-Scots Agency, Gordon St: The Ulster-Scots Agency has launched Belfast Burns Week 2018, which runs from today until Saturday, to celebrate the birthday of the poet Robert 'Rabbie' Burns. Burns was also known as The Ploughman Poet, The Bard of Ayrshire or simply The Bard. To celebrate the many links between Burns, his family and Ulster, from the late 1700s to the present day, a week-long programme of events has been organised. Today there'll be a panel discussion about Burns, who was born on 25 January 1759, and the enduring legacy of his work. 1pm. Free.
PRONI: Reflections On The Holocaust. Rabbi David Singer is giving a presentation to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. The Power Of Words is theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2018. There will also be a presentation by the Holocaust Educational Trust Regional Ambassadors on their experience of participating in the Lessons From Auschwitz project. 1pm. Free.
BBC 1 NI: In tonight's Getaways travel programme, a locally-produced programme broadcast every Monday evening, reporter Vogue Williams takes a gastronomic and shopping break in Belfast. 7.30pm.
The Treehouse: Movie Night. Tonight's film is the Shawshank Redemption, a 1994 American film based on a story by Stephen King. It stars Tim Robbins who plays the role of a man sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover despite his claim of innocence. The film is shown on a large outdoor screen on a heated rooftop terrace and includes hot tapas. Doors 6.30pm. Film starts 8pm. From £10.
The transformation of Belfast into a top tourist destination has been 'remarkable', according to a leading travel writer. The Lonely Planet's Fionn Davenport was speaking during an event in the city to help launch Tourism NI's strategy for 2018. This year the publication named Belfast and the Causeway Coast the world's best region to visit.
Linen Hall Library: Divided Society project. The internationally renowned journalist Kate Adie is launching the Linen Hall Library's new digital resource, Divided Society, a digital archive on the Northern Ireland Troubles and peace process. Ms Adie was the BBC's Chief News Correspondent and was one of the first women to send despatches from danger zones around the work. She will talk about her numerous assignments in Northern Ireland reporting on the Troubles as well as the Good Friday Agreement. The Library's Divided Society project sees the 1990-1998 section of its NI Political Collection digitised and made available online at www.dividedsociety.org. 1pm. Free.
Spectrum Centre: Burns Supper. Matthew Warwick, Education Officer at the Ulster-Scots Community Network, is compere for the evening and will take guests through a traditional Burns Night Supper. Food is included. A traditional ceilidh will be held afterwards for those who are feeling lift of feet. 7pm. Free.
Cruise Critic, the world's largest cruise reviews site and online cruise community, has announced the winners of its 9th annual UK Editors' Picks Awards. The awards are selected by a global panel of impartial cruise experts from Cruise Critic to highlight the best ocean, river and luxury cruise lines across dozens of categories. Fred Olsen Cruise Lines scooped the Best For Solo Travellers Award; Celebrity Cruises picked up Awards for Best Cabins and Best Shore Excursions; Royal Caribbean won Awards for Best Entertainment and Best Suites; and Seabourn Cruises lifted the Award for Best Luxury Cruise Line. All of these award-winning cruise lines include the port of Belfast in their itineraries.
