Celebrating Pride Month with a rainbow of fashion! June was selected for pride month in honor of New York City's Stonewall Riots, which took place in June 1969. Artist Gilbert Baker designed the rainbow flag as a symbol of LGBTQ rights; it debuted in San Francisco’s Gay Freedom Day parade on June 25, 1978. Baker later explained his colorful design: “We needed something to express our joy, our beauty, our power. And the rainbow did that.”

Such a great idea! Such a fantastic way to explore beautiful historic textiles from the comfort of your own home.

Close up look at the details and a curator to talk you through each piece, discussing the techniques and context for the item.

Shows just how much internal support period and couture garments have to create beautiful silhouettes.

A great night for costume buffs for just £5 while also supporting a great charity.

Here's a sneak peek of one of the items we'll be featuring in our upcoming "Costume Inside & Out" webinar.

The first one is already sold out, but don't worry we have a repeat showing scheduled for the 27th May! Tickets for the repeat showing are on sale now via our Eventbrite page.

This is a detail of the interior of a bodice from the mid-1880s showing the shaping and supports that go into creating a perfectly smooth, close-fitting bodice. The outside of the bodice is a beautiful wine coloured silk satin that contrasts brilliantly with the vibrant orange silk lining.
