One of the real shining lights on a completely buzzing Ormeau Road, Ormeau Community Cinema have just unveiled a brilliant new programme: Many Voices, One Screen. It’s a globe-spanning series bringing international films and vital independent voices to big screens across the neighbourhood🌍🍿

Since 2019, OCC have quietly become one of Belfast’s genuine cultural treasures: a nomadic community cinema bringing films into pubs, churches, bowling greens, masonic halls and even onto the River Lagan itself.

The new programme takes in Sirât, Parasite, A Quiet Love, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Perfect Days, About Time, Train to Busan, Suspiria, Amelia’s Children, Fallen Leaves and Ida, with screenings across local spaces including The Pavilion and Seoul Food & Studio.

Absolutely legendary stuff from one of Belfast’s most vital grassroots cinema projects.

Belfast Stories want your feedback on a new event space for the city 🎬

Opening in 2030, Belfast Stories is set to become a major new home for Belfast’s voices and culture, from local stories and overlooked histories to screen work and live events.

As part of the plans, they’re exploring a large, flexible event space that could host immersive exhibitions, screenings, live cultural events, broadcast production and more.

If you work in TV, screen, creative or community sectors - or use event spaces for programming or production - they want to hear from you.

Your feedback will help shape an ambitious space that genuinely fits the people who might use it.

Belfast Photo Festival is back this June, and the full 2026 programme is looking seriously world-class.

Running from 4-30 June, this year’s festival explores Horizons: Visions of Futures Unknown, with exhibitions, talks, workshops, screenings, symposiums, portfolio reviews and city-wide events taking place across Belfast & beyond.

From major exhibitions at Belfast Exposed to Late Night Art launches, cyanotype and screen-printing workshops, artist talks, photobook sessions, walking tours, storytelling nights and big conversations around AI, truth, ethics and the future of image-making, there is so much to get stuck into.

Another brilliant reminder of the calibre of cultural life happening right here in Belfast!

Culture takes many forms and sometimes it comes with a hedge trimmer or a very useful ladder 🛠️

One of Belfast’s most brilliant community resources, Belfast Tool Library is a lending library for tools, a place to learn new skills, make things, fix things and help reduce waste.

Here, Emily DeDakis chats about what makes the library so special, from the practical magic of borrowing what you need instead of buying it, to the bigger idea at its heart: community and making everyday life a little more affordable.

Since opening six years ago, Belfast Tool Library has grown to more than 700 members and saved people over an incredible £1.2 million, with every loan estimated to save members around £47. As Emily says here, it feels like one of Belfast’s best-kept secrets - but also one of its most useful.

Whether you’re putting up shelves, sorting the garden, starting a project or just curious about what’s possible, it’s an absolutely incredible resource right here in our city!

Lending sessions take place on Tuesdays from 6-9pm and Saturdays from 10am-1pm at 116 Shankill Road, Belfast, BT13 2BD.

It’s that time again: Bank of Ideas Voting Day is back for 2026! 💡

Sunday, 10 May is your chance to have your say, as decision-making is handed over to the people of Belfast, with communities voting on the creative ideas they want to see brought to life in their area.

From 2pm, City Hall will host a creative marketplace of ideas, alongside music, activities and a wide range of proposals: from craft clubs and creative writing to DJ-ing, kickboxing and more. This year, a number of ideas also tie into the city’s preparations for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann this August, including ceilís in care homes and community-led bodhrán building.

A minimum of 35 ideas will be funded.

There will also be a quieter hour from 4-5pm, with no live music and reduced footfall for those with sensory needs.

It’s a family-friendly day out, and kids can vote too!

No registration needed. All welcome.

BSL and ISL interpreters will be available, alongside an audio describer, and Easy Read guides explaining the voting process. To request an Easy Read document in advance, contact [email protected]
