Have you ever wondered what filming in 180° is really like?

On Sunday 18th October, Accidental's Talk to the Professionals Programme presents a half-day Immersive Video Taster at Accidental Theatre, and it's just £10.

It's a practical, hands-on introduction to a different way of making film. You'll work with top-of-the-range equipment and learn from working professionals, covering:

✅ Basic camera types
✅ Sound considerations
✅ Framing in 180°
✅ Practical considerations for shooting
✅ An overview of post-production workflows

Immersive video is a niche field, so it can be hard to know where to start. This is your chance to ask the questions you've always wanted to ask and bounce ideas around in a friendly, supportive group.

Whether you're a student, an aspiring filmmaker, a working technician or director looking to branch out, you're welcome. No immersive experience needed.

Try it. Explore it. Leave ready to take it further.

We're thrilled to announce the Northern Borders Artist in Residence 2026 for Accidental, Maighréad Ní Ghrásta!

“Maighréad Ní Ghrásta is a West Donegal native developing a new interdisciplinary practice across voice, sound, theatre and performance. At an early stage in this work, she is exploring how Donegal Irish, traditional vocal practices, mythology and inherited forms can become material for contemporary composition and performance.

Her practice investigates identity, belonging, grief, resilience and the body, with particular interest in the relationships between voice, language, dialect, memory and place. Working in Irish and English, Maighréad is currently undertaking an MA in Creative Practice at ATU Sligo and developing this new direction through opportunities including her residency at Accidental Theatre, Belfast.”

The Northern Borders residency gives artists time, space and support to develop their creative practice or new work, hosted by Accidental in Belfast and An Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny. This inaugural residency is kindly supported by the Shared Island Civic Fund, DFA.

We're thrilled to announce the Northern Borders Artist in Residence 2026 for An Grianán Theatre, Michael Lavery!

“Michael is a Belfast based Theatre maker and performer, who explores the lesser seen and complex side of q***r life through theatre and cabaret.

He is a graduate of Drama from Queen's University and his first full length play, developed with Patchwork Productions, received a rehearsed reading at the Garter Lane Theatre as part of Waterford Pride.

He was a member of the NSDF Lab 2021, Abbey Theatre Dublin 'Windows 21," project and The National Theatre of London's Young Writers Programme 2022.

He has also worked as a director on Hawthorne's No Entry and was Assistant Director on Spoiled for Dublin Fringe 2026, as well as a production assistant of Skelpielimmer's Shame Show.”

HAPPY HANDMADE DAY!

Tonight we are in for a very special edition of Handmade Music () with SOURDURE (Ernest Bergez) over from the Occitane region of France giving us an extended set.

Bergez has a true melting pot approach to his music that includes vociferous carnival rhythms, stylistic borrowings from oriental traditions, and futuristic sonics born from the avant-garde.

Resident house band QUBE () will be on warm-up duties

Yesterday we said a very sad farewell to , who has been such a huge part of Accidental over the last few years as our brilliant Artist Development Officer and Building Manager.

So many people who have come through Accidental’s doors will have met Jade, been supported by her, worked alongside her, or simply felt the impact of the care, energy and commitment she has brought to everything she’s done with us.

We’re incredibly sad to see her go, and it’s only because of the difficult funding situation facing the arts that we’ve had to say goodbye.

We’re going to miss her enormously, but we’re also so excited to see her move on to her new role with@rspacegallerylisburn , where we know she’ll be absolutely brilliant.

A massive thank you to everyone who came down to Accidental Theatre for Culture Night this year, we know we're a bit out of town so it was class to see you all!

The energy in the room was unreal!

Huge love and appreciation to our incredible lineup:
Ratsnatchers () for kicking things off with so much energy
Belladonna () for keeping the vibes flowing
Antwain Ruiz () for bringing down the house to close out the night

And of course, a huge shoutout to the team at Culture Night () and every single one of you who stopped by, sang along, and cheered on the performers.
