We are delighted to announce that Nic Greenshields Director of Performance at Laine Theatre Arts will be joining us as a judge for BOTH National Performance Awards London 2027 days! ✨

🎓 Thinking about auditioning for Laine Theatre Arts?
This is an incredible opportunity to perform in front of Nic, gain first-hand audition advice and discover exactly what is expected when applying for professional vocational training.

Nic is one of the industry’s most established performers and teachers, with an extensive West End career including Resident Director School of Rock, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Billy Elliot, Guys and Dolls, Cats, Miss Saigon, Oklahoma! and many more. 🎭

At NPA, Nic will be there to watch, audition and advise our young performers, sharing the skills, preparation and performance qualities needed to stand out at a professional college audition.

We are delighted to announce that Kerry Ellis will be delivering singing masterclasses at the National Performance Awards London 2027.

This is your chance to work with one of the West End’s leading ladies and gain invaluable insight into performing, auditioning and getting the very best from yourself in the room.

For 2027, we’re moving to Mountview, London, bringing together the next generation of dancers and singers for a full day of professional training, performance and audition experience.

Work with leading industry professionals, challenge yourself, perform, and experience what it takes to step into a professional audition environment.

Applications are now being accepted for ages 10–18. Places are limited and entry is by application.

CONTROL💨

One of the little things that can make a BIG difference in an audition… Breath Control.

You’ve just finished a demanding dance combination. You’re tired.
You’re out of breath.
But what happens next? 👀

In a professional show, you might finish a huge dance number and go straight into a scene or dialogue.
You can’t stand there looking exhausted and panting.

🫁 Learning to control your breathing, bringing it down into the diaphragm rather than holding it high in the chest, is an important skill for any performer.

The same applies in an audition.
-Control your breathing.
-Keep your posture.
-Stay present.
-Keep performing. ✨

How you present yourself AFTER you’ve danced can tell the panel just as much as the combination itself.

Train the stamina.
Train the control. 💪

VOCALS 🎤

A proper vocal warm-up is such an important part of preparing to sing — helping with breath control, vocal placement, range, articulation and protecting the voice before performing.

We were so grateful to have current Musical Director of The Book of Mormon and previously Wicked, working with our singers at the National Performance Awards London and Belfast.

Giving our young performers a real insight into how professional West End performers train, prepare and warm up their voices before a show.
