Wow! we can’t quite believe that this time last week we were about to hold our first Ball for 7 years!!
Finding a venue and band is always a struggle to achieve the type of event we dream of. Being able to use the historic Corn Exchange in Bedford brought back our memories of dancing there, over 30 years ago. Added to that is the wartime connection to the BBC and countless events/broadcasts and recordings made in the town.
However, our dream did come true as we were able to invite Ewan Bleach and the Fleeting Paradise Orchestra to play for us. With only amplification for the vocals, the orchestra played acoustically, filling the room with music in a way that must have been as close as possible to time travel!
With our guests getting in the spirit of the occasion in evening wear it really was a night to remember. The Melody Man played between the band sets to keep the dancers happy and with a few period novelty dances it was a busy evening on the floor.
We would like to thank all our guests for making this a very special night, along with the musicians, Corn Exchange staff and all our supporters and pupils past and present, but finally to Bruce Henley and Pauline Henley who took over the door and setup/breakdown duties (we couldn’t have done it without you). Such a wonderful way to mark 30 years of teaching ❤️ Thank you all ❤️
