BAFTA, Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor, Damian Lewis is heading to Esquires, for a rare, intimate show in support of his brand new album 'Sweet Chaos'.

Damian Lewis released his acclaimed debut album Mission Creep in 2023, earning praise for its soulful vocals, rich instrumentation, and emotional honesty. Hailed by critics as “beautifully
written and performed” (Line Of Best Fit) and “a warm, rich debut,” (Financial Times) the record marked him as a genuine new voice in British music and established Lewis as a songwriter with something urgent and real to say.

Sweet Chaos is the album that follows from a place of hard-won clarity. Written two years on, it is bolder, broader, and at times more raw. “The first album was quiet and tender,” Lewis says. “This new album is a bit angrier in places. You don’t know these things until you listen back: the extent to which your state of mind pervades the thing.”

Lewis first honed his musical instincts busking across Europe in his youth - an experience that informs the raw authenticity of his work. He quickly proved his strength as a live performer, winning acclaim for his charismatic stage presence and selling out venues across the UK, alongside festival appearances including Latitude, Wilderness, Black Deer and the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Really excited to announce that Mary In The Junkyard will be playing Club 85 in Hitchin.

Mary in the Junkyard have quickly become one of the UK’s most intriguing new acts, stitching together haunting alt‑folk, shadowy art‑rock, and a kind of late‑night emotional rawness that feels both fragile and ferocious. Their songs drift between whispered confession and sudden, serrated bursts of noise — the kind of dynamic that hits even harder in an intimate room like Club 85.

Frontwoman Clari Freeman’s voice is the anchor: cracked, expressive, and capable of turning a single line into a gut punch. Around her, the band weave violin, jagged guitar lines, and minimalist percussion into something that feels handmade, human, and slightly unhinged in the best way.'

After supporting Wet Leg in the USA on their Moisturizer Tour, Mary in the Junkyard will be performing select dates to promote their debut album.

The Men They Couldn't Hang make a welcome return to Bedford Esquires on sat 10th October.

Founded in 1984, TMTCH evolved from the Shepherd’s Bush squatting and busking scene to make their debut supporting Poguemahone at the Electric Ballroom in Camden in the Easter of that year. Swiftly their uproarious and engaging style, coupled with keenly contemporary songs, gained a passionate national following, leading to a 40 year career filled with much loved music, a dedicated fan community and high octane performances. Touring continually throughout their career, TMTCH have crossed the globe by way of Europe, Canada, USA, Iceland, Egypt and Estonia. They have appeared at festivals such as Glastonbury, Roskilde, Reading, Pink Pop and Cambridge Folk and have appeared with a roll call of International artists such as David Bowie, Van Morrison, Bo Diddley, The Smiths, Elvis Costello and the Oyster Band to name a few.

A packed calendar today, from 2pm - 4pm it's the return of The 900 The Tony Hawk Skater Band back to complete their show following a show stop at their gig in Feb due to a head injury, tickets from the last gig valid, extra tickets on the door from 2pm.
From 6:30pm we turn the room over to P***Y REGGAE PARTY ft Karl Phillips and The Rejects, FACE UP, easydread & The Tics. it pretty much is what it says on the tin, a bit of punk, a bit of ska, a bit of reggae, what' s not to like ? tickets on the door, music starts at 7pm.

Finally following yesterdays postponement of The Moonlandingz show this evening, if you find yourself at a loose end and still fancy a bit of live music we are happy to offer FREE admission to all ticket holders to the P***Y REGGAE PARTY event, just show up with your proof of purchase & your in !
