I’ve noticed that wedding fairs tend to go in annual cycles… the January ones are mostly visited by couple who became engaged at Christmas. No date, no venue, just excitement!

Of course, they have come to gaze at frocks, flowers and shiny things (I mean, who wouldn’t?). Rarely have they considered management of their Big Day when it happens, and are somewhat discombobulated by this strangely dressed person in a red coat, explaining to them how a Toastmaster would make a huge difference.

Still, with my attempts to get that message over, combined with the liberal dispersal of stress balls, I hope I’m getting there! (And , if you need convincing, have a look at what many lovely couples have said about my service on Google reviews.)

Lots of love to you all, whatever your wedding will look like. Remember, it’s no one else’s day but yours.

No, this isn’t a low budget remake of the Hugh Grant classic… it’s one week in the life of a Toastmaster cm Funeral Celebrant.

Last week I had the honour of celebrating the life of a wonderful person at his funeral at , delivering a bespoke ceremony written in conjunction with his family.

Two days later, it’s into the red coat and off to for the marriage of Viki & Kerry.

Both were special days and, in their own ways, pure celebrations of love.

I know I’m privileged to be asked by people to support them on these big occasions and I always go the extra mile to make sure I deliver it for them.

Another door opens for me - I have just completed this excellent course with . I am particularly proud that Dinah gave my work a Special Commendation.

Dinah is a wonderful trainer and has a wealth of experience as a funeral celebrant to impart.

This area of being a celebrant isn’t for everyone but, somehow in my heart, I just know I can add real value to families at the time they need it most.

Toastmaster, couples celebrant, funeral celebrant. They all share one vital component - people. And I do love working with people.

I guess I must be doing something right! 3rd year in a row supporting the UK’s leading safety charity, at their amazing awards dinner.

Over a thousand guests in the fabulous Great Room at The Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, superbly compered by the charming and hugely entertaining

And, with a Toastmaster assisting award winners on and off the stage, no one had an unfortunate trip on this of all nights!

Well, I suppose it looks a bit like me!

If you are suffering pre-event anxiety, and are not sure how it’s all going to pan out on the day, why not hire a real Toastmaster to solve the problem?

Looking forward to supporting the RAF Benevolent Fund at their annual awards night in April, recognising those whose charitable efforts go so far in supporting our RAF personnel, past and present.

The recent passing of Group Captain “Paddy’ Hemingway aged 105, the last survivor of The Few is a reminder of our debt.

And, yes, the picture is of me in a former life!

When I read a post on Insta from a LGBTQ+ bride saying they had been advised not to attend ‘normal’ wedding fairs it really annoyed me. We should be a loving and inclusive industry and yet we somehow continue to give an impression of thoughtlessness and exclusion. Just ask the lovely Gino why he still sees a need for the after all these years. Me? I can’t change much on my own, but do display this sign on my table at shows. Because it’s bloody important.

People often don’t realise the range of events that a Toastmaster can support, or quite how many tasks need to be managed on the day. A Toastmaster at your event will be the glue holding all the pieces together!
