“I love a good rustic DIY wedding, and Charlotte and Dylan’s wedding was absolutely bang on!
Held on a good friend’s farm, it was right up my street. A marquee, an outdoor handfasting ceremony nestled between the trees, and then dancing galore, with three of their friends taking it in turns to DJ and keep the guests dancing well into the evening.
Charlotte’s dad had a little surprise up his sleeve for the couple too. He’d secretly arranged a flash mob involving most of the guests, who had been practising their moves before the big day. And boy, did they pull it off!
It set the scene for an amazing evening of fun, big beats, glow sticks and plenty of whoop-whoops!
It really was a top wedding. The guests were absolutely brilliant, the atmosphere was incredible, and I was so glad to be asked to document such a special day for Charlotte and Dylan.” - Derryn

Charlotte & Dylan kicked things off last weekend with their legal ceremony at the Guildhall in Bath, and Derryn was there to capture it all.

It was a brilliant little preview of what’s to come, because this weekend it’s time for the main celebration! 🎉

If you'd love a video to look back on, but don't fancy having a photographer, videographer and content creator all around you all day, our Hybrid Photography & Highlight Film packages are well worth a look.

As a Somerset wedding photographer, Derryn photographs your wedding exactly as he always does, but throughout the day he'll also capture short video clips using the same camera. Those clips are edited together into a 3–5 minute highlight film, so you get your wedding photos and a video to relive the day.

The biggest difference? It's still just one person.

Most of our couples tell us they're not really comfortable in front of the camera and just want to get on with enjoying the day. That's exactly how Derryn works. No big production, no extra crew and no constantly being asked to do things twice. Just relaxed photography with a few natural video clips captured along the way.

Here are a few favourites from Katie & Daren’s wedding at Limpley Stoke Hotel yesterday.
It was a brilliant day from start to finish, with everything happening at the hotel, from bridal prep in the morning through to the first dance in the evening.

The weather played ball, the gardens gave us some great spots for photos, and there were plenty of laughs, happy tears and moments with family and friends throughout the day.

Betty & Kirill’s wedding was a real privilege to be part of.

Surrounded by their church community and loved ones, they were married at Emmanuel Church in Chippenham in a ceremony centred on their faith. It was a heartfelt service filled with prayer, worship, and the promises they made to one another.

Afterwards, everyone headed to Goss Croft Hall to continue the celebrations. The afternoon was relaxed, with great speeches, plenty of laughter, and lots of time to simply enjoy the day together.
Thanks so much for having me along to capture it all. It was a brilliant day from start to finish, and I hope these photos bring back all those memories for years to come.

If there was ever a wedding that deserved a weather warning, this was it! Chloe & Jake couldn’t have asked for a better summer’s day at their beautiful lakeside venue… although it was so hot the cake had to be cut early before it made a run for it!

The dance floor barely had a chance to cool down either, with guests filling it from the afternoon right through to the end of the night. Somehow, Derryn managed to tempt Chloe & Jake away from the party for five minutes, and the cornfield next to the marquee rewarded them with some absolutely gorgeous golden-hour photos. Even their dog popped by for the family photos before wisely heading off somewhere a little cooler.

As if the day wasn’t epic enough already, it finished with an incredible fireworks display over the lake, before Nicky Blackmarket took over with a drum & bass set that kept everyone going. We're fairly confident the following morning involved a combination of sore feet, sunburn, and a few heroic attempts to cure some spectacular hangovers. What a day!

What a scorcher of a day for Annemarie & Adrian’s wedding on Friday! ☀️

Wells Registry Office definitely lived up to the summer weather – it was so hot there were more fans in the room than at the England match! Thankfully, nobody let the heat take away from what was a beautiful ceremony.

After a confetti-filled exit, we escaped to the shade at the Castle for the family photos (a very welcome break from the sunshine!). We then wandered down to the moat for some relaxed couple portraits, making the most of every bit of shade we could find.

By then, everyone was more than ready for a cold drink, so the newlyweds were whisked away in their wedding car to The Litton, where guests were already enjoying a wonderfully relaxed reception under the outdoor canopy. It was everything you’d hope for from a classic English summer afternoon at the pub – sunshine, laughter, good company, and plenty of reasons to raise a glass.

Rachel & Charles got married at the Watermill at Priston Mill on Saturday.
There was a bit of back and forth on whether the ceremony would be outside, with the weather sitting close, but it held off at just the right time. They got the outdoor ceremony, group photos and portraits in before the rain came in.

The Watermill is one of those venues that handles it well. Old stone, big windows and loads of character, so when everything moved inside it still felt like the day carried on properly, not like a backup plan.

Derryn leaned into that, using the building, the light and the space to keep things relaxed and natural rather than fighting the weather.
Speeches came from the best man, father of the bride and Rachel & Charles together, then straight into a packed dance floor that didn’t really let up.

Shout out to Chris and the Priston team for looking after everyone and keeping the whole day running smoothly.
