What a glorious day at the Twerton & Whiteway Flower Show on Saturday, our Bath College floristry students had a stall to promote floristry courses & got members of the public involved by helping them make floral boutonnières & posies. There were also floral demonstrations by our floristry tutor Andrew & various floral art competitions. The show was opened by 100 year old local resident Stan who cut the ribbon & was presented with a posy of garden flowers.

As the wedding season is in full swing, this week’s floral creations in the Summer in Bloom course were hand tied bridal posies with matching grooms boutonnières. Stunning summer flowers in soft peach & cream tones with roses, gerberas, lisianthus & blousy peonies with wispy fountain grass for a touch of natural movement.

Join us at Bath College open evening on Wednesday 1st July . We will have our pop-up flower shop selling bunches, bouquets & plants as well as a chance for you to see our floristry room where all the floral magic happens! If you’re interested in a short floristry course or would like a longer course to gain a floristry qualification then come along & meet our current students who can tell you all about them.

Our chosen charity this year is Dorothy House Hospice so Bath College is working in partnership with them to promote the services they offer & the associated courses that the college offers. Our floristry students are now providing vases of flowers to be placed in the reception area & nurses station at Dorothy House in Winsley , this is a great opportunity for them to make up designs for a ‘real’ client and understand customer service & requirements. These are this week’s vases of flowers created by 2 of our students & next time another 2 will arrange them .
