Sacred & Compassionate Ceremonies Hello and welcome to the page of Celebrant Sam Radford, home to heart-led & love filled ceremonies. I loved those years. With love & many blessings
✨❤️✨❤️

I am very proud of my Bristolian roots; I was born at the old Southmead Hospital, lived & worked locally in North Bristol for many years. I cared for my brother who had Downs Syndrome & learning disabilities alongside my young family and work, until the end of his life in 2019. I have a long career in care, mostly working in services for adults with learning disabilities often with challenging, co

mplex medical and physical support needs. I followed this working as a Freelance Advocate for adults with care and support needs; varying from acquired brain injury, learning disability, parents in child care proceedings and those living with dementia. I worked at Southmead Hospital for 8 years as the Hospital Carer Liaison Worker, supporting family carers to navigate treatment pathways for the person they cared for, liaise with health professionals and plan towards discharge pathways. I am unsure at what point in my life, my interest in officiating funerals and weddings arrived, I noted it and the seeds were sewn over many years I do believe of working with so many amazing people and supporting them with critical care, ED admissions & end of life. I trained to be an Interfaith Minister/Celebrant with the Onespirit Interfaith Foundation in 2021 completing an in-depth & rich enquiry of two years training into spiritual development & interfaith ministry training. This involved deep healing, a committed practice of inner growth, sacred practice, deep listening, creating ceremony, crafting rituals and meaningful exploration of many faiths. I now live in Bath, serving the South West for the creation of personalised ceremonies to truly reflect the people you love. If you would like to discuss how we can work together, please do call or message me for a chat.

Top of the bus view…

It opened up so much for me this week;

Tuesday
Beauty
Wealth
The every day elements of life’s cogs
And then there was the cruel and harsh truth
Of rough sleepers
Or homeless people
Humans without roofs
Soiled feet hanging off a park bench
Bodies covered by a single layer of something protecting them
Exposed
The dazzling sun that was rising
Later , one hot and bothered soul roasting like a turkey on a mattress
Exposed
No protection
In direct sunlight
Under everyone’s gaze
I don’t think I will forget how that made me feel.

Wednesday
Beauty
Wealth
The every day elements of life’s cogs
Empty spaces where the humans with no roofs had been
Park benches still holding the weight
Mother Earth cradling some curled up souls
Exposed
No protection
In direct sunlight
I saw you
I see you
I am so blessed

Whilst out on a slow ramble in dappled sunlight yesterday we found this lovely quote from Mary Webber, early 20th Century poet.

A local Shropshire born girl, had her first poem
Published in 1907…her work shaped by personal experience and the land around her…

“Natures voice is never over, I listen to its voice”

Really beautiful as we basked in yesterday’s glorious sunshine, birdsong, cattle grazing, trickling stream and peacefulness…

Rocking into the weekend with a touch point at the divine Floriography by Vera Fallacy always an absolute joy to connect in person ✨💖✨

So many beautiful flowers to adore, reiki cards, candles, teas, books and a trove of treasures to enjoy - so much more than a florist.

I love that you’re always greeted with a huge warm smile and equally warm hug 🤗 thank you team 🙏

Some fabulous coffee too at Smokebox which might just become my new favourite coffee place ! Friendly service, great price and delicious dirty chai 😋

Just love these sunny & Bristolian vibes ✨🩵✨

Love this print I spotted today in Emiline’s window at Spike Island in

Kindness: source Inspire Kindness

The Core Characteristics:

Generosity: Giving your time, attention, or resources to support others.

Empathy: Being able to understand and share the feelings of another person.

Compassion: Showing deep care and concern for the well-being and struggles of those around you.

I love these definitions and that these are strength. These are my own personal feelings about this based upon how they landed with me as they are my core values 🌸 and my biggest strengths ✨💖✨

I hope it lands with you as it may need too, sharing with kindness & love ✨❤️✨

Morning’s like these feel my cup.

Spring, springing the most beautiful light, abundant, delicious colour and warmer air.

I love an avenue of trees … they look so inviting to run and hide, to skip and dance, to stop and greet each one … ✨🌲✨

I have found a most fabulous new community which speaks my love language of death work.

It’s so refreshing to hear “advocacy” used within this community.

I have been giving thought to how I show up in the world to be of service to communities who may not know where to find their people or indeed me!

I work alongside individuals who are living and wish to plan for their for funeral arrangements through ceremony work.

Through deep connection, meaningful conversations, active listening, co-creation and the joy of spacious time together.

I also work alongside individuals or families who have lost a beloved person, to be present through their grief through spiritual companionship and accompaniment.

There is no rush, we too can be fully present during this time and co-create a ceremony that truly reflects their loved one. I don’t limit my time.

When we are deeply rooted in compassionate care, love and kindness we can take gentle steps forward…together ✨❤️✨

Mental health awareness week; I have personally lived with depression, low mood, overwhelm and exhaustion in both the clinical & human form all my adult life.

It’s not something I publicly speak of for fear of judgement or failure. It was always taboo in my childhood experiences & conditioning, one had to be strong 💪 especially as a woman.

I have had some and have some most beautiful people ( including my own immediate family ) around me who have supported me through these times of turmoil and turbulence in my life.

I am about to top up my tool kit of self care skills with an 8 week course of “ Living well with a life long condition- improving low mood”

It’s a continuous learning experience of life, being kind and understanding others, meeting where we are at and being seen in the sacredness of our own authentic authority ✨🙏✨

Today is the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. We’re shouting loudly that great mental health care isn't just clinical, it's human. It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about rent and too unwell to work. It’s the adviser who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. And it's you reminding friends and loved ones that these contact details can save lives. Please share 💙

Today I started in a new job, again, it’s been a bumpy two years. It’s unlike me. I have a good track record for being reliable, committed, passionate, proactive, dedicated and resilient etc.

Since my ordination in July 2023, I continued to work alongside my ministry and celebrancy development work. Yes it takes some juggling.

So working two jobs, finding my way with the vast and varied business of death, commercial marketing of death work and advocacy within the tenderness of death work has been a challenge.

It’s taken me down some rabbit holes for sure!

So today, I have stepped back into a job I love which is to support family carers ( continuing the two roles).

With my personal lived life experience of caring, working in care and being passionate about this community I am trusting that the experiences I have had over the last 2 years have bought me closer to knowing myself even more deeply.

It felt really good to be back today…

I love an oracle card and this was drawn whilst working alongside a beautiful woman who is wishing to put all her affairs in order, including her funeral plans.

She had her fun, uplifting, magical and inspiring sayings crafted into her personal deck and they are just fabulous.

I felt very honoured to receive a pack after our first meeting, she blessed them and sealed them with a kiss 💋

I look forward to co-creating her funeral wishes with her, it’s not morbid ( in our view) it’s absolutely beautiful to be able to celebrate one’s own authenticity and life with great freedom and reflection.

The small part of our journey together has already gifted her so much ✨💖✨

An oracle card as unique as the woman I am working alongside as she prepares all her business is in order.

She had all her sayings created into a beautiful personalised oracle pack to continue spreading her love wherever she goes & beyond.

I felt very honoured to be gifted a pack too after our initial meeting.

If you may be looking for someone to support you to co-create your funeral plans for the future please do contact me.
