Poetry+

Poetry+ Pushing the boundaries of Spoken Word through collaboration with other art forms via monthly Open Mic Events and workshop opportunities.

Poetry+ focuses on pushing the boundaries of Spoken Word and what it has to offer, collaborating Poetry with other art forms through monthly Open Mic events and the running of Workshops in which poets are given the opportunity to collaborate with other artists such as musicians, painters, dancers and more. Poetry+ is all about inclusion. Work performed at our events are the products of individual

artists and do not represent our views, beliefs or ideals. We will not sensor any artist in their form and therefore must express that, above all else, we respect each other's freedom of speech and work.

Hello all! The Poetry+ team would like to say a massive thank you to every single performer who has ever graced our stages, and every audience member who has attended our events.

We have had an incredible time hosting these events for you. Sadly, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to host our last events of what was to be our third and final season. All the team put in every effort to make Poetry+ a family environment where artists of all varieties felt safe to be themselves and we are certain we achieved that.

Thank you for making some of our wildest dreams come true. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for all the incredible things our team are going on to do next by following their pages/ Instagram accounts.

Sending light and love to you all, and reminding you one last time to keep pushing the boundaries of what poetry has the potential to become! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงก

The Saboteur Awards are officially open for nominations!! We recognise that we're still quite a small event, but we like to think that size isn't everything. Perhaps, if you love Poetry+ as much as we do, you'd consider nominating us for best regular spoken word night?!

Good afternoon! We would just like to affirm that Poetry+ this month, as it currently stands, will still be going ahead. We reserve the right to change this decision as things progress, and should headliners need to change as a direct result of Covid-19, we will inform you of the changes. If you have any concerns, or would like to revoke your open mic slot, please do contact us! Sending big love to you all!

Are you finding the entry price a little too steep? Or maybe you'd just like to do something good for others? We know that, hidden amongst the upper class, Bath is a city which has many unfortunate people living on its streets, or struggling to make ends meet. That is why, from now on, Poetry+ will be offering 25% off entry (thats ยฃ1 for students, and ยฃ1.50 for non-students) to anyone who brings a donation for us to pass on to the local food bank. These must be non-perishables. If you're uncertain of what to bring, take a look at their website: https://bath.foodbank.org.uk/

Alright everyone, enough introductions and formalities, it's time to get into details for the Poetry+ events for this year!
First of all, our first event this year will be on October 29th, times & venue will be released in the coming weeks!

And secondly, this year we're going to be changing up how our open mic sections will be working! Don't worry, it's still very much so an OPEN mic, but we are going to be splitting up our sign ups into two different sections and here is how they both work:
We will be taking 8 open mic sign ups through Facebook, a month prior to each event, and this is where it gets interesting! These 8 people will only be taking up four of our eight open mic slots, meaning that two people will be sharing a slot! But how does this maths work out??
We will be randomly pairing up these 8 people, and giving them the month before the event to create a duet poem to perform at Poetry+! We hope this helps bring together artists who may not have worked together before, and we also hope it brings a fun, new dynamic to all our upcoming events!
Don't worry if this doesn't tickle your fancy though, as we have another 4 ordinary open mic slots which are available on the door of each event, first come first serve!
It goes without saying that we are looking forward to seeing what everyone will bring to the table with this new format!

We're edging nearer and nearer to the new Poetry+ year, and we're ready to make it the best yet, with all kinds of fun things in the works that will make P+ better than it ever has been!
But with that being said, we'd really like to take this moment to celebrate, as we've recently hit 250 likes here on Facebook ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰! Thank you to everyone who's liked our page, everyone who's come to our events, everyone who has performed at our events and everyone in between, we can't keep doing what we love without you, and we hope to see more new and familiar faces throughout the coming year!
We also want to take this moment to shamelessly plug our other socials! You can find us on:

We've been a tad dormant on these platforms but expect to see a whole lot more activity and interaction very shortly with all kinds of exciting things in the pipeline!

We may be taking our summer hiatus, but that doesn't mean that things are quiet at Poetry+ HQ! Oh no! We have alterations to the running scheme, headliner plans and new collaborations all in the works! But first, we would like to introduce two new team members who will be joining show runners Holly and Erin, and director Alex to help Season 3 become bigger and better than ever!

Firstly, we would like to welcome a relatively new poet but a long-term devoted attendee to the team - Rob Cooper!! He will be in charge of the door and helping to maintain social media!!

Secondly, we are bringing to the team a big personality with a beautiful heart - it's the one and only Meg Baxter! Meg will be in charge of our physical media whilst also acting as a hosting understudy for Holly and Erin should life continue to happen - as it does!

We are thrilled to welcome these two angels to our team and hope that you will all give them the encouragement and support they deserve! ๐Ÿ’–

Just to confirm, Poetry+ will NOT be running in April. We will be back on May 28th at The Hop Pole for an incredible send off before the summer break! Bring your words, bring your friends, bring your hearts and settle in for what's set to be a magical night!
