Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas, and that 2025 brings you everything you want! To the many fantastic couples I'll be working with this year, I absolutely can't wait to come and be a part of your big day, and capture those wonderful memories for you ❤️

I haven't posted for a while because it's been an absolutely crazy year, but thought I'd better let everyone know I'm still here and working hard as ever. I really do need to remember to post on social media more though! 😂

I'm sure it's a frequent panic that most other wedding suppliers will share, but I honestly can't explain the panic that happens in your mind when you wake up to snow on someone's wedding day. In the space of 0.3 seconds, everything rushes through your mind. "Will the bride and groom get there? Will my car start? Will the roads be OK?"

But all the worry was for nothing, and it's now a beautiful day at Coombe Lodge, as always, for a beautiful bride and groom 😊

I'm delighted to say I've recently partnered with More Trees, a UK based organisation who plant trees in new and existing forests around the world on behalf of businesses, to help reduce their carbon footprint.

For every new booking made with me, two trees will be planted in your name (one for each of you, and you'll get an email from them to prove it!) 🌱 🌳

Two trees might not sound much, but if my calculations are correct, the travelling I do on an average wedding day, plus the electricity I use editing it, will generate around 16kg of carbon. Over five years however, your two trees will have absorbed around 180kg of carbon from the atmosphere (over 11 times the amount of carbon my work will generate), and in 25 years, they will have absorbed around 610kg (over 38 times the amount generated!) So actually those two trees will have had a huge impact on the environment, and completely offset the environmental impact of your wedding film.

To me, a wedding is emphatically more than just a series of still images. It's vibrant! It's exciting! It's vivid! It has movement, music, noise and bustle! It's lively! It has a unique buzz; love and laughter, charm and character!

Pictures alone will never give you this back.

Editing.

One of the most common questions I get asked by clients is how long the editing process will take for their wedding film? The simple answer to this question is that there is no simple answer. Editing isn't just choosing which clips to use and then choosing which order to use them in. There is so much more work to it than that.

The footage that comes out of the camera is not ready to use. Raw footage, as it's commonly known, is exactly that. It is raw. It is like the ingredients used to cook a meal. The editing process is the cooking part. Depending on the circumstances of the day, the lighting, the acoustics etc. there are also various corrections and fixes that will likely need to be worked on using lots of different software, to make the footage look as good as it possibly can, and to the audio to make it sound as good as it can.

Hopefully this little video I've put together showing unedited footage compared to edited footage can show the work which goes into the editing process 😊

💥 Exciting news! 💥 A new and improved website is on the way, which will have a new login area for clients to securely access their booking documents, their films, see important updates and information, and see their position in the edit queue and estimated completion dates :)

Hopefully this should be live within the next few days 🤞
