Sharing a lovely snap from yesterday's Flower Arranging Workshop. We are starting to incorporate more of our own cut flowers into these events. While the summer annuals are still some way off harvesting, for this session we were able to use our own Nigella, Quaking Grass, Alstroemeria, Verbena, and Astrantia. Including some of these more delicate flowers, especially those that add movement, makes such a difference to an arrangement.

Hand-Tied Bouquets and Flower Arranging make for a perfect floral Hen Party activity for groups of between 6-8 people.

During the summer months, we use mainly our own garden-grown flowers for these sessions. The next available date for our Hand-Tied Bouquet workshop is Wednesday, June 3rd, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Full booking details are available at thebathgreenhouse.com.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered or visited our National Garden Scheme open day last Sunday. It takes a significant amount of preparation to get ready for an event like this, and it is always a bit nerve-racking wondering if the weather will be kind, but fortunately, everything went well.

It was the first time we have shared our National Collection of Geums, and it was lovely to meet so many enthusiasts of this adorable plant. We have over 130 cultivars in the garden, many of which may be unfamiliar to visitors, so I spent the best part of the day answering questions about them. It was truly heartening to see such a high level of interest.

The funds raised will support several great causes, including The Carers Trust, Hospice UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Parkinson's UK, and The Queen's Institute of Community Nursing. A donation will also be made to Plant Heritage for plant conservation. With their vital support, we are able to help conserve plants for future generations.

If you missed our open day and would like to visit, we are also open by arrangement for charity over the summer months for groups of 10-20 people. During July and August, our cutting garden comes to life with flowers, offering a different experience for visitors. We hope to welcome more of you to Court View over the summer.

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] for further information.

Geums have become very popular garden plants over the years, and it is not surprising why. They come in a range of shapes, heights and colours, adding interest to just about any planting scheme.

However, you will only find a very narrow range of Geums in a garden centre, often limited to the most popular and newly introduced cultivars. Here at The Bath Greenhouse, we house over 130 different cultivars, many of which will be in flower this weekend for our NGS open day. It is a wonderful opportunity to see these delightful plants on show.

In addition to the display, we will have homemade teas and plants for sale.

The garden will be open for charity from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday 3rd May. We hope to see you there.

We should be pleased if you could join us at Court View, home of the Bath Greenhouse, on Sunday 3rd May to support the National Garden Scheme and Plant Heritage.

The NGS has been raising funds for nursing and health charities since 1927 and is the most significant funder of nursing in the UK. Through the National Plant Collections and Plant Guardians, Plant Heritage is safeguarding nearly 100,000 different plants for today and for future generations.

Although we have been part of the National Garden Scheme for five years and normally open in mid-July to showcase our collection of cut flowers, we have chosen to open in May this year. This earlier opening highlights our conservation work through Plant Heritage for the National Collection of Geum rivale and Geum coccinea cvs. In addition to this existing collection, we are currently building a new Historic Collection of Geums first listed by The Royal Horticultural Society before 2011. We currently have 130 different cultivars in the garden.

We hope you enjoy the opportunity to see unique Geums you may not have encountered before.

We opened our studio for the first workshop of 2026 this weekend, and what a joyous occasion it was with this party of friends.

We consider ourselves fortunate that our work in floristry, plant conservation, and The National Garden Scheme brings us into contact with creative enthusiasts, plant experts, and garden lovers on a weekly basis. It is always such a pleasure to welcome people to our home and garden.

We hope you are having a wonderful start to the year.

We are pleased to share some exciting news regarding our garden at Court View, home of The Bath Greenhouse. We are delighted to be featured in The Garden Visitor’s Handbook 2026 as one of the private gardens participating in the National Garden Scheme.

This year, we will be opening our gates on Sunday 3rd May, 2026. While we normally open in July to showcase our cut flower gardens, we have chosen this earlier date to specifically feature our National Plant Collection of Geum coccinea and Geum rivale for the very first time. Following the popularity of our plants at last year’s Chelsea Flower Show as part of the Plant Heritage display, we are eager to welcome visitors to see the collection in situ.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to health and nursing charities supported by the NGS, as well as plant conservation programs supported by Plant Heritage.

While we have been quiet on social media recently, please note that our floristry workshops and private events will resume in March. Throughout January and February, our main focus remains on preparing the garden for our May opening.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Tomorrow we close our doors for the Christmas break. We've had a very busy and enjoyable year working in the garden and delivering a whole range of floristry workshops from our home at The Bath Greenhouse. We'd like to say a special thank you to everyone who booked a private event or attended one of our calendared workshops. Your support enables us to maintain our gardens for charitable events and to conserve endangered plants for future generations.

One of the highlights for us this year was to display our National Collection of Geums as part of Plant Heritage's display 'Beauty of the National Plant Collections' at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It took a lot of effort and some sleepless nights to produce a large batch of really healthy Geum plants that all peaked in time for the show, but what a privilege it was to be part of that display, which was awarded a well-earned Silver Medal.

During January and February we will be working hard to prepare our garden for a National Garden Scheme Open Day on Sunday 3rd May, 2026. We hope that some of you will be able to join us at this event. Pre-booked tickets are already available on the National Garden Scheme website at ngs.org.uk. This is a perfect present or stocking filler for a garden and/or homemade cake lover, and you will be supporting some of the UK's best-loved nursing and health, and gardening charities in the process.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.

PS. People ask me what type of wreath I will make for my own door. The answer is, from whatever materials are left over from our workshops. I hope you like it!
