Terry and Darren weren’t the only pro table tennis players in attendance at last weekends PickleB event! Regular PickleB player and high level table tennis player himself Josh Dye was joined by friends Eva Brito and Yasiris Ortiz whilst they were in the country representing the Dominican Republic at the table tennis World Championships currently being held in London!

🇩🇴 Eva Brito — Pan American Champion, Caribbean Champion, and 3x National Champion. A full-time athlete based in Spain, currently in the UK representing the Dominican Republic and the World Championships .

🇩🇴 Yasiris Ortiz — Caribbean Champion, entrepreneur, and founder of Spin and Learn, inspiring kids across New York to discover table tennis and pickleball. An international Dominican Republic athlete competing at the World Championships in England.

🇬🇧 Josh Dye — Former professional table tennis player and coach turned pickleball coach and player. Competed for years in the top British leagues, multiple-time county champion, and played/coached in Sweden. Has coached athletes to national and international titles, including wheelchair athletes competing at European and international events.
Josh has a strong focus on community and growing sports. With over 400 members at east London pickleball club. And over 200 at his table tennis club.

You may have seen Terry and Darren around at some of our recent PickleB events but you might not know that they are both incredible table tennis players!
Terry Young and Darren Blake first played table tennis together over 30 years ago, representing England together from junior and youth level through to senior competition.

Terry enjoyed a hugely successful international career, winning 4 Commonwealth gold medals alongside 3 silver and 3 bronze medals, and was also a 5 time English National Champion.

Darren represented England at both the Commonwealth Championships and World Championships at senior men’s level and was England Youth and Under 21 National Champion on multiple occasions, competing extensively at national and international men’s level throughout his career.

Both were known for their athletic and attacking styles of play and have remained very close friends throughout and beyond their table tennis journeys. They both share a passion for racket sports and are now enjoying the challenge and transferable skills involved in pickleball.
