So whilst peak event season may be coming to an end… 2027 planning season is officially underway!

Today was a great site visit with the wonderful catering team of Reggae Feast Catering Ltd as I start bringing the plans together for the Perins School Sports Tour Fundraising Dinner in February.

There’s something I love about this stage of an event — standing in a space and starting to visualise how it will look, feel and flow on the day. From the food and layout to the little details that make guests remember an event for all the right reasons.

Because the best events don’t just happen. They’re planned, tweaked, sourced, organised and (usually!) obsessed over months before the first guest arrives.

One of my favourite ideas is a personalised bottle of wine. After a year of patience, encouragement and helping our children grow, it’s a lovely way to say, “Thank you for everything you do.”

You don’t always need a huge budget to make an event feel special… sometimes it’s the little personal touches that people remember most.

I was invited to celebrate Nick’s wonderful gran’s 95th birthday, and I couldn’t resist getting creative!

I transformed simple jam jars into pretty vases, designed and printed bespoke afternoon tea menus, and got the kids involved by hand-writing the place cards. It’s not about spending a fortune, it’s about creating moments that feel thoughtful, personal and memorable.

Even when I’m hosting a family BBQ, my event manager (and years in hospitality!) can’t help but take over!

From setting up a buffet that’s easy for everyone to help themselves, to making sure the food stays hot/ cold, the flow works and everything looks inviting… it’s second nature now!

It’s funny how the skills you use every day become part of who you are. Whether I’m planning a wedding, styling a celebration, coordinating an event or simply hosting family and friends, I always want people to feel relaxed, looked after and able to enjoy themselves.

Does anyone else find they can’t switch off from their job, even at home? 😂
