LISTED BUILDINGS

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Overton 🏡✨
Did you know the beautiful Overton Community Centre began life as a Victorian primary school in 1868?
This stunning Grade II Listed building, originally known as the Overton National School, was funded by local solicitor George Lamb on the site of the former Poyntz Arms inn. Built in striking Tudor-Gothic style with flint walls, red brick detailing, steep tiled roofs and its distinctive bell turret, it has stood proudly at the crossroads of Wi******er Street for over 150 years.
Inside, boys and girls were once taught separately, with the original entrance signs still visible today. The attached school house was home to the headmaster, while generations of Overton children passed through its doors before the school eventually moved to Lordsfield in 1978.
Rather than losing this historic building, the village came together to give it a new purpose. Since 1978, the Community Centre has been run by the Overton Community Association and remains at the centre of village life — home to the Library, Parish Council, Playgroup, exhibitions, meetings, clubs and community events.
From coaching inn… to Victorian school… to thriving community hub — this remarkable building continues to shape the story of Overton. ❤️

Join the Team Behind the 2026 Overton Music Festival!

Overton Music Festival 2026 is taking shape. We have the acts. We have the stalls. Now organisers are calling on the community to lend a hand and help make it an unforgettable weekend of fun, music, and community spirit.

The three-day event from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June is designed to promote awareness and use of the local Community Centre and village halls, promises live music, children’s entertainment, and good old-fashioned summer vibes. But behind the scenes, a team of enthusiastic volunteers is needed to help the show go on.

Volunteer Roles Needed:
• Selling tickets for the Festival Draw
• Erecting bunting and lighting before the event
• Setting up the performance area each day
• Help with coordinating music acts
• General event stewards; helping people get the most from the event
• Saturday Ticketed Event:
o setting out the hall
o staffing the ticket desk (taking payment / preventing early entry)
o clearing away the hall
• Dismantling the performance area at the end of each day
• Taking down bunting and lighting after the event

Don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before. A briefing will be provided and you will be supported by other experienced volunteers, not least those who helped us out last year (thank you!).

Stewards are especially needed on Friday and Sunday, as Saturday will be supported by the fantastic efforts of our local Rotary Club.

Festival Timings:
Friday 12th June – 6:30pm to 10:00pm
Saturday 13th June – 12:30pm to 6:00pm
Saturday Ticketed Event – 7pm to late (11pm/11:30pm)
Sunday 14rh June – 12:30pm to 6:00pm

Volunteers are needed from 30 minutes before the festival start to help with setting up to 60 mins after the day's end to help with dismantling. Help is also needed both prior to the event to sell Draw tickets and erect the stage, lights and bunting, and after the event to take down the infrastructure.
Shifts will be managed flexibly to fit around people’s availability: whether you’ve got 30 minutes or want to stay the whole day, your help will be hugely appreciated.
