St Anne's is set in a green, pedestrianized oasis in the very heart of Barnstaple; a Gothic building in miniature, charming and unassuming, in the middle of the Parish Church cemetery. St Anne’s is one example of an extraordinary group of historic buildings concentrated in between Barnstaple’s two main shopping streets. The Plough Arts Centre now hosts a programme of community arts activity; Live

music events, regular arts & crafts workshops, residencies, classes and community projects through out the year. With a capacity of 60 and everything you would expect from a modern venue it offers a unique opportunity to make your event or workshop very special.

Charcoal drawing is an essential skill for all artists no matter what your medium and subject choices are. You learn so much about tonal values and light, see the world in monotone and it will open up a whole new world of colour!

🎨'A Guiding Light' Charcoal Drawing Workshop with John Piper Art ⏰Saturday 13th September, 10am-4pm
📍Barnstaple Guildhall
Come and join Artist John Piper for an introduction to drawing with charcoal.
This expressive and striking medium is perfect for capturing mood and light, its very forgiving and organic which means that your work can evolve and change as it’s applied. After a short introduction to the medium and how it’s used, step by step we will create a striking image of a lighthouse wrestling against a stormy sea to guide home those weary sailors.
Full tuition and one to one coaching throughout and drawn on a large A2 sheet you will be taking home an impressive piece of artwork.
