🌱🌸 MAY RECAP 🌙🌻

It’s been a particularly tough few weeks on the flower farm battling the heat to keep the plants alive during record high temperatures 🌱☀️🔥

Lots of time spent watering, in between getting the plants in the cut flower garden in the ground and seeds for the sunflower patch sown🌻

Overall, rather exhausted after lots of 15 hour days, but super pleased to finally get some rain to lighten the workload!!🌧️😅

Here’s to plenty of growth in June 🌱🌸🌻

Guess what… the sunflower seeds are growing!!🤩🌻

After having a small break from the flower farm for a hiking holiday, I was very pleased to return home and see the seeds that were sown in the field 10 days ago are happily sprouting 🌱

Thankfully, a bit of rain and some warm soil has created the perfect conditions for germination☀️

Now ready to spend the weekend catching up with lots of jobs around the field and getting the next succession of sunflower seeds in the ground for this year’s sunflower patch!

Another super busy week on the farm getting the flower field prepared for sowing the sunflowers!!🌻

Thankfully all the hard work paid off as we were able to get some seeds in the ground in perfect time before the rain ☔️ 🤩

And not just sunflowers but lots of exciting new life on the farm too 🐑🤍

It’s been a super busy week at Banham Blooms!! 🚜🐕🐰🌻

From muck spreading and ploughing to fencing, the flower field is almost ready for drilling and planting this year’s sunflower patch and cut flower garden.

Won’t be long until the field is in full bloom ready for lots of Norfolk days out flower picking 🌻🌸🌺

Whilst the weather has been lovely and perfect for getting these jobs completed, a little rain would be very welcome!!🌞🌧️

Lots of evenings spent in the polytunnel, sowing seeds and even more time spent watering seeds!

Met the wonderful to discuss some exciting Banham Blooms candle projects!!🤩

Also met the lovely to brainstorm some designs for gift tags, vouchers, cards and more!💐

A grand job by flail mowing along the fences ready for rabbit netting 🐰

The seeds have been thriving with this recent warm spell - it’s so exciting watching them grow. The sweet peas are thriving 🫛🌱

And lastly, turns out I’ve barely touched the sides with the seed packets - I think I hugely overestimated how many seeds I would need for my little flower farm this year 😅

The sunflower patch - last year to now 🌻🌸

It was finally time to pull out last year’s sunflowers, with several hours work pulling thousands of stems out by hand!! 💪🏼

Hard to believe it’s transformed from a gorgeous colour filled sunflower patch to bare land again! It’s now ready to be cultivated and filled with cut flowers for summer bouquets and pick-your-own experiences. 🌺 🌸🌼
