✨ With just a few weeks to go until the big day, it’s easy to feel like your to-do list is never-ending. To help you feel calm, confident and completely prepared, I’ve put together a last-minute wedding checklist with all the little details that can make a big difference – from emergency kits to evening shoes, bustle tips to marquee must-haves.

Whether you’re planning a traditional marquee weekend or a countryside celebration, this is one to save for later, so follow the link to my blog on your last minute check-list.

Kind words .....

“Our wedding had two distinct events — an Indian Sangeet night and a traditional ceremony at an Oxford college. Joanna was a calm, enthusiastic, and creative presence throughout. She introduced decisions gradually so we never felt overwhelmed, and her excellent supplier connections meant every detail — from stationery to flowers — was beautifully handled. Thanks to her ability to anticipate issues before they arose, our celebrations ran perfectly.”

It was a pleasure to bring this weekend wedding together, with its many moving parts and people to coordinate - but it’s what I thrive on!

MC duties

Duties of an MC

When you choose your MC for your wedding it is always good to make sure that they know that they will have to be ready to make a fair few announcements during the day. The typical announcements are:

Announce the bride and groom into the reception.

Call to dinner - a hand bell or gong is quite helpful to get the guests attention.

Announce the bride and groom into the marquee.

Announce the cake cutting.

Announce the speeches.

If there is a wedding planner then they will ensure that they introduce themselves to the MC as early as possible as they will need to coordinate the prompts for all the announcements.

Antonia & Digby’s wedding day was everything a wedding should be - fun, full of personality and completely unique.

A joyful Oxfordshire wedding that combined a traditional church ceremony with a truly unique marquee reception at Bicester Motion, followed by a wonderfully relaxed second day celebration.

It was exactly the sort of weekend I love planning and it all came together beautifully.

Planning a marquee wedding, particularly at home, gives you complete freedom to create a day that feels entirely your own. You are not working within the structure of a fixed venue, which is often exactly the appeal. However, that flexibility also means there are more moving parts to consider.

One of the most important elements of planning a successful marquee wedding is building contingency into your budget. Not because things will go wrong, but because there are always additional details that emerge as your plans take shape.

The most seamless marquee weddings are not those where everything is fixed from the start, but those where there is space to adjust as plans evolve.

As a wedding planner specialising in marquee weddings at home, I see this time and again. When there is room in the budget to respond to practical needs and thoughtful enhancements, the entire day feels more considered and relaxed.

Contingency is not an extra. It is an essential part of wedding planning. It allows you to make decisions with confidence, manage the unexpected and ensure that your wedding feels exactly as you imagined, without unnecessary stress.

I’ve spent a lot of time building strong relationships with suppliers so that I can recommend them for exactly the right weddings and couples.

The wonderful Lynda Athey from Lynda Loves, a stationer, is no exception. I have worked with Lynda on many occasions and I never cease to be in awe of her talent and beautiful creations.

On World Stationery Day, and every other day, I am proud to recommend Lynda Loves for your wedding stationery.

To celebrate the start of my wedding season, I’ve rounded up some of my favourite readings for weddings in a blog.

If you are having a civil ceremony, your readings must only have secular content. Couples getting married in church must have at least one religious reading.

When choosing someone to read at your wedding ceremony, consider the size of the venue and if there will be microphones available. If someone is softly spoken, they definitely want to make use of amplification. Make sure your readers speak slowly and clearly, this is the best way to ensure the meaning of what they’re reading is conveyed. Always remember to provide a PA system for a marquee wedding for the speeches.

While your wedding is the big focus, it’s really just the start of your married life together.

There is so much symbolism in your wedding day, for example the giving away of the bride by her father to her new husband is a literal handover of care and protection, while also lending a beautiful continuity. The cutting of the cake is another example, as you hold the knife together you are starting your journey as a married couple and the challenges ahead, that you will face together.

I don’t know where I would be without my husband, who is a huge support to everything I do - and we’ve been married for a long time now! Our wedding day was beautiful and I look back with so many wonderful memories, but it was only the beginning of all the adventures we’ve had.

As wedding season is nearly upon us and every last detail is being planned and checked it is always prudent to include a wet weather plan as English weather can be totally unpredictable!

Is it going to be scorching hot or will there be an absolute deluge? I always say to my clients that there is one thing that you cannot control and that is the weather. However, you can plan for it.

If you need a bit of guidance on how to plan for wet weather, head over to be blog for top tips on coping with rain on your wedding day.

Huge congratulations to Udit and Jasper celebrating their first wedding anniversary today.

What a fabulous celebration. It all started on the Friday evening with a Sangeet Night at the Ashmolean Museum with henna by @‌mach_management and a Bollywood disco by @‌sugarbumps_events, following delicious Indian cuisine by @‌chackraevents in the Greek and Roman Sculpture Gallery decorated with gorgeous florals by @‌flowersbykirsty, stunning lighting from @‌tec_oxford and exquisite stationery by @‌lyndaathey.

The wedding was held the next day at Lady Margaret Hall. It was a beautiful hot, sunny April day. A moving ceremony was followed by a drinks reception in the Old Library and dinner in the Deneke dining hall, again with beautiful florals by @‌flowersbykirsty. The cake was made by Samantha @‌theprettycakecompany. A disco followed with a DJ from @‌sugarbumps_events. All superbly captured by the wonderful @‌gailseckerphotography.
