I am Samantha (Sam for short), I am a Bridalwear and occasion wear Seamstress that also handmakes beautiful and unique bridal accessories, all designed and made bespoke for your wedding day. Beautiful Unique was born out of my wish to create beautiful and unique bridal accessories which you cannot find on the high street. This runs alongside a thriving business doing bridal alterations which I enjoy very much. I have been very privileged to work with some lovely people over time and to alter and make some stunning dresses. There is nothing better than meeting a bridal party, often quite stressed, and being able to calm nerves and promise on the day their dresses will look stunning and fit perfectly. My satisfaction comes from seeing a happy bridal party and knowing I helped them.

A question we often get asked is “How long does it take to alter my dress?”

That’s a difficult question to answer as there are so many contributing factors such as lace, beading etc. However, here is a simple answer. When you initially book your free consultation we book out 16 hours in our calendar for the work. Once we have seen you and you have agreed for us to undertake the alterations to your dress, it is then evaluated to see if it needs more or less time.

A good deal of the time is actually spent on unpicking areas of the dress where it needs altering, this then has to be put back the way it was. Hemlines can take just as long depending on how many layers, whether there is crinoline to be removed and replaced and of course if there is lace or beading as this will often need hand stitching.

The greatest compliment to any seamstress is when someone says “I can't see what you’ve done!”

This is our beautiful bride Natasha, we think you'll agree that she looks absolutely stunning! 😍

Alterations to Natasha's dress included hemlines, taking up the shoulders and resetting the sleeves, bodice side seams and adding an American bustle. We also trimmed her veil so it was the perfect length. 🪡

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and your wedding dress is one of the most expensive dresses you will probably buy.

This is why it is vital to make sure you use the right bridal seamstress to do your alterations. Always make sure your chosen seamstress has the experience to undertake what can be quite complex alterations, and if necessary, ask to questions about their previous work and experience. Also take care when it comes to cost, the cheapest might not be the best. A qualified seamstress knows their worth so beware of cheap deals.

It is a 45 minute appointment, absolutely free, which allows us to see you in your dress and give you an accurate quote for work needed. But also more importantly is allows you to meet us, see where we work and ask any questions that you like, so you can feel confident that you are making the right choice.

Remember the cuff alteration we showed you the other day? Well here are some gorgeous photos of our beautiful bride Emily in her stunning dress! 😊

We had the privilege of altering Emily’s dress which included adjusting the bodice, taking up the hemline and altering the cuffs of the sleeve. Emily also purchased and is wearing our handmade pearl headband which we think you’ll agree looks perfect! 😍
