Of all the moments I’ve photographed, this little chase across a Northern Irish cliffside has travelled the furthest.
Some news to smile about this morning… this photo has been selected as a winning image in the 2026 Best of the Best Destination Photo Collection.

Ancient castle ruins. A bride in satin ballet flats running through the grass, her dress caught by the wind. A groom chasing after her. No posing. No perfection. Just a moment that felt alive. This is why I love elopements. The wild landscape, the unpredictable weather, the freedom to run, laugh, and make the day your own. Northern Ireland, you never disappoint.

So grateful to my incredible couple for trusting me to tell their story, and honoured to have this image recognised alongside so many talented photographers worldwide. A reminder that love stories don’t need perfect poses.

Of course I’ve written a poem about the image:
She ran ahead with mischief in her smile,
He chased behind, across the Emerald Isle,
The castle stood through centuries untold,
And watched a fleeting moment worth more than gold,
The wind caught hold of every joyful sound,
As two hearts danced on ancient Irish ground.

Congratulations to the photographers whose work earned a place in this showcase, and shoutout to this year’s incredible judges: Manuel Aldana, Authentic Collective, and Nina and Darek.

There’s something incredibly special about a wedding that feels deeply connected to home.

With roots in Hillsborough, it was only fitting that these two chose to celebrate their marriage in the heart of the village, surrounded by their closest family and friends who had flown across the world to be there. Their intimate ceremony in the Red Room at Hillsborough Castle, beautifully led by , was filled with warmth, emotion, and all the moments that matter most.

One of the joys of a micro-wedding is the gift of time. Time to truly be present. Time to share conversations, laughter, and memories with every guest who made the day so meaningful.

Afterwards, we explored the stunning formal gardens, creating elegant family portraits on the iconic steps in front of the castle before heading off with the bridal party for a stroll. The bridesmaids looked effortlessly chic, the bride was the epitome of timeless glamour, and together they brought such a stylish energy to the day.

A beautiful celebration of love, family, and of course the castle.

Hillsborough Castle never disappoints. ✨

Some wedding days are calm and quiet. This was not one of them 😂
From the moment I arrived, there was movement everywhere. People chatting, laughing, hugging, catching up, helping each other out, and genuinely having the best time. The whole day felt alive.

The bride was surrounded by the most attentive group of people. With seven bridesmaids and four flower girls, there was always someone helping with her train, carrying her veil, fluffing her dress, or making sure she was getting a hug. It was such a lovely thing to watch throughout the day.

The styling was beautiful too. Soft blue tones ran through everything, paired with elegant, feminine details and masses of florals. Even more impressive, all of the flowers were created by the bride’s mum, which made them feel even more meaningful.

What I loved most, though, was how personal the whole day felt. Everywhere you looked there were little nods to the couple and the things they love. From the ceremony to the speeches, and in so many of the details they carefully chose, their personalities were woven into every part of the celebration. It felt completely and unapologetically them.

There was a little rain in the air at times, but certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits (or hairstyles). A day full of energy, laughter, romance, incredible people, and so much love.

The forecast promised a warm 22°C day — May, in Northern Ireland. We were expecting soft sunrise light and maybe a little golden colour in the sky.

Instead, nature had other plans.

The evening before, sea mist began rolling in from the coast. It happens occasionally during spells of warm weather, but this time it just kept travelling further inland, mile after mile, until it wrapped itself around the countryside.

When we arrived at the Dark Hedges at sunrise, the road had completely transformed.

The ancient beech trees disappeared into layers of mist. The hawthorn hedges were bursting into bloom, their delicate white blossoms glowing against the soft grey atmosphere. It felt less like a sunrise shoot and more like stepping into another world.

One of the things I love most about photographing elopements and couples in Ireland is that the weather is never something you can fully plan for. You can have a vision in your head for golden light, dramatic skies, or sunshine… and then Northern Ireland quietly creates something even better.

This morning was a reminder that some of the most memorable photographs happen when conditions refuse to follow the forecast.

The mist, the blossom, the silence of an empty road at dawn — none of it could have been predicted. We simply happened to be there on the right date, at the right time, when everything aligned. The sun began to burn the mist off every second we were there.

And that’s why I’ll never regret the early alarm for a sunrise session.

Sometimes the magic isn’t what you planned for. It’s what arrives unexpectedly.

Planning an elopement or couples session in Ireland? The most beautiful moments often come from embracing the landscape exactly as it is. As a Luxury Wedding Photographer in Ireland and Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer, I specialise in creating natural, atmospheric imagery that captures the unique beauty of locations like the Dark Hedges, the Causeway Coast, and Ireland’s most iconic landscapes.

Summer bookings are finally here in Northern Ireland ☀️

The warmer days have arrived. The skies are softer, the evenings are longer, and the gentle coastal breezes make everything feel a little more relaxed.

Before you know it, the school holidays will be here, bringing slower mornings, family adventures, and more time together. And while it might not feel like it now, these days with little ones never stay the same for long.

Every summer they grow a little taller, become a little more independent, and leave behind another stage you’ll wish you could revisit.

That’s why family photographs matter. They’re a way of holding onto the laughter, the cuddles, the sandy toes, and all those little details that change far too quickly.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, now is the perfect time to book your summer session.

Let’s capture your family exactly as you are, before this season becomes another treasured memory.
