I was never prepared, when starting this business, for how honoured I feel when someone trusts me with their story.
They can be stories of celebration - the weddings, anniversaries and other significant days. I love the thought of our flowers adding to the joy š§”
This week, I was told the story of a loved one whoās recently passed away. She loved butterflies š¦
Today, whilst making these funeral flowers, I have been thinking a lot about the part flowers play in these tough times. Iām very aware that Iām likely to often be one of the first external people a grieving person speaks to in a while. I donāt take that lightly.
Iād be lying if I said I find funeral flowers easy. There is, undoubtedly, pressure in getting the flowers just right for such an important day.
In truth, it can trigger my own grief too. I think about the loved ones Iāve lost each time. In fact, today, while making these flowers āLet it Beā by The Beatles came on. This song was played at my Uncleās funeral, when he died tragically young. I paused and thought about my memories of him for a while.
And thatās what I hope my flowers achieve. I hope they help those grieving to pause and perhaps even think of a happy memory or a specific connection they hold, if they can. In this case, Iām hoping it will be the butterflies š§” š¦ š
