🍚🔥 SPICED BEEF & RICE BOWL WITH CRISPY MATCHSTICK FRIES! 🤤

Flavour-packed spiced beef mixed through fluffy rice, topped with crispy matchstick fries seasoned with a touch of cinnamon. Simple, comforting and absolutely delicious! 😍 Serve with fresh salad and yoghurt on the side for the perfect family meal.

❤️ Serves 5

🛒 INGREDIENTS:
🥩 750g beef mince (or your favourite mince)
🧅 2 large onions, thinly sliced
🧄 4 garlic cloves, minced
🍅 1 tbsp tomato purée
🌿 1 tsp turmeric
🌿 1 tsp ground cumin
🌿 1 tsp cumin seeds
🌶️ 1 tsp sweet paprika
🧂 Salt & pepper to taste
🍚 4 cups basmati rice
🥔 1 large potato, cut into matchsticks
✨ A pinch of cinnamon and salt for the fries

👩‍🍳 METHOD:
1️⃣Start by cooking your basmati rice as per the previous video.
2️⃣Slowly cook the onions for 15 minutes until soft and sweet.
3️⃣Add the garlic, mince, tomato purée, spices and seasoning, with a splash of water. Cook until the mince is done.
4️⃣ Fry the potato matchsticks until crispy and season with salt and a pinch of cinnamon.
5️⃣ Mix the cooked rice and beef together and cook on low for another 20–30 minutes.
6️⃣ Serve topped with those crispy fries, alongside salad and yoghurt. 😍

💡 Don’t rush the onions — they’re the secret to building all that flavour!

• 2¼ teaspoons dried yeast
• 1¾ cups warm water

✨ For the glaze:
• 1 tablespoon plain flour
• ½ cup water
• ½ teaspoon baking powder

🌿 Toppings:
• Sesame seeds
• Nigella seeds

👩‍🍳 METHOD

1️⃣ Make the dough
Add the bread flour, salt, sugar, oil, dried yeast and warm water to a large mixing bowl. Mix everything together until you have a soft dough.

2️⃣ First rest
Cover the dough and leave it to rest for 30 minutes.

3️⃣ Divide and rest
Divide the dough into two equal portions and leave them to rest for another 30 minutes.

4️⃣ Prepare the glaze
Mix the flour, water and baking powder together until smooth. Set aside.

5️⃣ Shape your bread
Shape each portion of dough into your desired Barbari bread shape and place on a baking tray.

6️⃣ Glaze and decorate
Brush the glaze over the surface of the dough. Use your fingers to make the traditional long indentations.

Sprinkle with the seeds.

7️⃣ Final rest
Leave the prepared loaves to rest for another 20 minutes.

8️⃣ Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 18 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

9️⃣ Let it rest
Remove from the oven and leave the bread to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

A Big Announcement from Rustic Chefs

Friday 1st May will be our final day trading at Maw Agri.

We’ve truly loved serving the local community over the past 6 months, but unfortunately we’re unable to continue at this location.

The good news is that Rustic Chefs isn’t going anywhere — we’ll still be running our pop-ups and event catering, with lots in the pipeline that we’re really excited about.

This week will be our final week at Maw Agri, and we’ll be keeping it simple with breakfast and burgers only as we wind things down.

We’d absolutely love to see you before we close, so please do pop by if you can.

A huge thank you to all our lovely regulars — your support has meant everything to us, and we’re so grateful ❤️
