Hello! Good morning to you all, and what a good morning it is...it is actually raining here...good proper rain, which has been a very rare sight here in the UK this summer.

I thought a reintroduction would be nice for everyone who has followed my account recently.

My name is Fiona and here I am.... unfiltered, unbotoxed and just my messy authentic self. I'm hitting mid life, raising a family, still unsure of myself and surviving on Yorkshire tea.

It may be refreshing to hear but my account is not styled or coordinated, it is purely real moments, snapshots of my love of the flowers that I grow in my garden, the things I make and the joy I try to share with others.

Ok.... so I have been majorly absent this summer on socials....I've had very little to post about apart from how this has been the worst summer of my life...no surprises there! I hate the heat as it is and this summer has just been torture for me! My garden trees, shrubs and flowers are really showing now just how tough it has been and so I have had nothing pretty to show you.

However, I would like to give a MASSIVE shout out to Chrissy who has let me go to work in her beautiful field and enjoy her space for a few weeks which has been lovely (especially seeing the green woodpeckers who live there 💚).

Chrissy has also supplied me with the most gorgeous British cut flowers for this weekend's intimate soft summer wedding....so here at last is something pretty to show you.

Yesterday the East Midlands group of FFTF members had a jolly out to Ashover to see the lovely Michelle of and her wonderful growing spaces.

It was wonderful to see her garden in an old orchard which had a secret garden feeling about it, including her adorable ducks.

Then seeing how she has expanded this year into a brand new field was impressive to say the least. So much hard work has gone into it and I cannot wait to see that field full of flowers!

What have I learned about the box moth Caterpillar that I can share with you...

Your box hedges may look like they have lots of lush new growth at the minute but if you get down to take a closer look there is a very high chance that you will find it is infested with these caterpillars. Where you find one, you will find many!

So if you have box hedging or bushes can I suggest that you get out there and take a look.... These guys have been active for a few months now.

You find most of the damage starts on the sides or at the bottom of your shrubs. I think that is where the eggs are easily laid for the moth. The caterpillars hatch and start to work their way up the bushes from there. So you will often find the biggest caterpillars and often the chrysalis in the tops.

You will notice dead leaves. Damaged leaves. Silky cobwebbing, and if you see leaves stuck together then you are likely to find a caterpillar inside. How you dispatch them is up to you but picking them off by hand or squishing the leaves together is how I try to stay ahead. It does take dedication but he warned it doesn't take long for these guys to completely destroy your shrubs if left unchecked.

It becomes your new obsession...

Do you know what this caterpillar is? It targets one particular plant and causes a great deal of unsightly damage. (Answer in the comments ⬇️)

This has become a MAJOR pest in my garden over the last few years. It is very active already and staying ahead is a long game.

The question is how do you deal with it?
