Did you know that in 1865 Charles Dickens nearly died in a train accident near Ashford? The near-death experience on the derailed train inspired his novel 'The Signalman'. Adding to the eerie nature of the event, Dickens died five years to the day after the crash, on June 9, 1870.

Did you know that Glen Campbell was a sessional musician playing the guitar for a jaw-dropping number of famed musicians, including the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, The Monkees and Doris Day - to name a few. By the time he turned 30, he had played on more than 530 recorded songs and was a member of the famed session musician collective the Wrecking Crew. At age 32, he got his first solo breakthrough with 'Gentle On My Mind'.
