Had a great chat today with a caseworker from the local MPs office.
Regarding....

✔️CPR & DEFIB training in schools
✔️Heart health awareness in schools and the wider community.
✔️Cholesterol levels, when should people be checked and what level should your level be under before medication or further checks are done.
✔️Defibs in all venues and work places

Look at this memory.

5 years ago today we purchase our defib.

Notice I write, I hope we don't need to use it.

2 years ago we used it!!

We are so lucky we had one to hand 🙏

❤️ MILLIONS OF PEOPLE… NOW LET’S TURN THAT AWARENESS INTO ACTION ❤️

Our post about Clive’s cardiac arrest has now reached MILLIONS of people.

We never imagined our story would travel that far, but seeing how many people it has reached has made us realise, we have an opportunity to keep the conversation going.

So we want to ask you a few really simple questions…

❤️ Do you know CPR?

⚡ Do you know where your nearest defibrillator is?

🏢 Does your workplace have a defibrillator?

🩸 Do you know what your cholesterol level is?

That last one might surprise you.

We often hear people say, “But I feel perfectly healthy.”

The trouble is, you can have high cholesterol and not know it. There may be no obvious warning signs.

So when was the last time you actually knew your cholesterol level?

We would love to see more people learning CPR, more workplaces and public venues having accessible defibrillators, and more of us taking the time to understand our own heart health.

Because there are things we can do before an emergency happens, as well as things we can do when those frightening few minutes really matter.

So our challenge to everyone who sees this is:

👉 Learn CPR.
👉 Find your nearest defibrillator.
👉 Ask whether your workplace has one.
👉 Know your cholesterol level.

And talk about it.

Ask your family. Ask your friends. Ask your work colleagues:

“Would you know what to do if I collapsed tomorrow?”

If sharing Clive’s story and continuing this conversation encourages even one person to learn CPR, check their cholesterol or helps get another defibrillator installed somewhere it is needed, then something incredibly positive has come from something that changed our lives forever. ❤️

Please share and help us keep the awareness going.

Clives 2nd birthday (cardiac arrest anniversary)
Strap in, its a long one.

That morning I (Kelly) had been teaching archery and clays to a couple. When I went into the office, clive was sitting at the desk, he had been sick in the bin and was a grey colour. I knew what was happening, I seen my dad have a heart attack.

I called 999, clive was giving his details, when his eyes rolled he slumped in his chair and basically checked out. I screamed on the radio for a friend (Gary) who was on site to come. I also quickly call Kirsty our daughter to come to the centre, to sort customers out. I picked clive up put him on the floor. After assessing him, I placed the defib on him..... actually it wasn't as easy as that sounded, I was shaking so much, I couldn't read the picture on the machine, nothing qas registering, I couldn't make sense of any of it. Gary was so calm, he calmed me down and explained what I needed to do, gary has bad knees and was unable to kneel down and help.
Once the defib was on, it told me to start CPR, which I did, using 1234 as my rythem. Kirsty arrived, i screamed for her to keep away, she didnt need to see this and to sort the customers out. I hadn't contacted our son, i was trying to protect him from seeing this, however, i completely forgot, he had access to our CCTV cameras. In the mist of the madness. I got Gary to get a customer (Dave) to go and wait at our top gate for the ambulance. After several minutes clive had recieved 2 shocks.
I hear the ambulance arrive, the relief was immense, they told me to continue CPR while they got stuff out, as they was asking me questions, nobody heard the defib stay stand clear, and my defib is a fully automatic machine.
I got a shock, blew me off clive, clive started to breath, the smell of burning flesh was pungent, clive, has now swallowed his tongue and the air ambulance then arrive.
The police then arrive, wanted to tape of as it may be a crime scene, as you can imagine, I was rather upset and they opted to leave the tape for the moment.
I pace in and out of the office area, my body is shaking, from the shock of the situation and the shock from the defib. I keep calling clives name, telling him to keep listening to my voice.
When Clive came round the noises he made was like nothing I have ever heard before, apparently its due to the lack of oxygen, they eventually get him on a stretcher. His eyes are open but he doesnt do or say anything.
The 2 police men agree to take me to the hospital (PC 308 & PC3119) they was a god send, it was the longest ride to derby hospital, took forever. Some moments I got extremely anxious and these two gents was truly amazing at calming me down.
When we arrived at the hospital i had to stay in the car, while they sorted clive out, I'm sure you can imagine anxiety levels was again high, Carl from the air ambulance came over to me explained they were going to take clive straight into theatre and that they are waiting for me as clive was now asking for me.
Clive, looked lost, confused, wanted to know what was happening to him, time was of the essence and they took him to theatre.
I was then booked in to AnE as I had recieved a shock from the defib. I let them do an ECG, declared myself fine and discharged and went and sat waiting for Clive with Carl and my 2 best friends Lee & Bre who have been there for us every day. While my wonderful family and kids was at the activity centre trying to keep it all together.

Many heros helped that day.

I am eternally greatful to all of those amazing people who helped me save clives life that day.

For a very long time after when people, doctors, nurses, consultants told me I had saved his life. He had a 1% survival rate and I had bought him back from being dead, I had to stop them in their tracks and put my lala ears on, i could not hear them say them words. After months and months of listening to teddy swims "bad dreams" plus "lose control" and messages to chat gpt on how I'm feeling, I can now say "I SAVED HIS LIFE" actually i can say "I'm bloody awesome, I saved his life"

There is lots more details that we have had to deal with from this story, and it affected so many people from what they saw or heard.

Moral of this story...
1. Donate to the air ambulance, link in the comments for the new summer raffle
2. Have a family defib. Research on google
3. Do you know how to do CPR, if not why not?
4. Know what your cholesterol levels are and make changes to your diet if need.

Thank you all, for your continued help and support along this chapter of our lives

The reel is a small snippet of the event. Some bits have been cut out, when clive and I recieved the shocks.

Today is thank my hero's day from me (Clive).
Two years ago to the day as many of you know I suffered a cardiac arrest, checked out for several minutes and then back again. It obviously wasn't quite as straight forward as all that and there was a very time placement important chain of hero's involved that have have given me another chance, and each hero just as important as the one before and the one after.
Paramedics played their part, the air ambulance delivering extremely experienced surgeon level expertise and very powerful drug/medicine on site, the ambulance driver who probably broke a couple of speed records getting me to the hospital. My surgeon who performed miracles, the hospital staff ( Derby Royal) all fantastic human beings, all hero's played their part.
If any one of those hero's had not played their part on that day then the chain of survival would have broken!!!
But of course all of this would have been completely pointless and huge waste of effort and time if my own personal super hero had not been there and performed like a true warrior.
My wife/ partner/mate, my hero.
Just imagine hiw hard it must be to pick up your dead partner, put on a defib ( thank god we have one) then deliver CPR for aprox ten minutes, keeping alive so the rest of the chain of survival ( the hero's above can follow on.
As good as the others are they would have struggled with a dead person, I was alive when they arrived, and this I owe to Kelly , my very own personal super hero, so yes hero's do exist.
And I should also thank Leicestershire police who gave Kelly a very rapid journey to the hospital clearing the way through traffic for my chariot (ambulance)
Anyway I'm feeling grateful and think she should wear a uniform today but this might not happen 😊

Life before the Cardiac arrest.
2 years ago, we sat round a table in a woodland with some friends. Not a care in the world!!!
Happy!!
Full of life, ambitions and goals.

Zoom in and look at the size of Clives face.

A few days after this picture, his face looked rather different.

A face, as his wife, I never in my darkest days, did I ever think I would see.

Faced with the harshness of the situation. I screamed on our radios for a friend to come and help (all of this is caught on CCTV)

I picked clive up, put him on the floor, put the defib on him and it told me to start CPR.

My brain could not think of the song I was supposed to sing for the rhythm. I snapped out of the what the f**k is it and said f it... 1234 will do.

3 shocks of a defib and 10 minutes of CPR later, he starts to breath again, luckily I'm now surrounded by ambulance people and the air ambulance.

There is so much more shocking details to this story, however the points I am trying to get across to you, is....
1. Do you know CPR
2. Do you have a family defib, if not why not? Lots of us have expensive subscriptions to stuff that will not save your life.
3. Do you know where your nearest defib is?
4. Have you had your cholesterol levels checked?
5. We need the air ambulance, please click the link in the comment below to have a go in the summer raffle, they need our help to keep this amazing service going.
