Join us at 7.30pm on Friday October 16th for a fabulous opportunity to hear some of the UK’s top professional musicians performing in The Link Centre

The musicians will share a programme of music for violin, cello and piano featuring two Czech composers – Dvořák, and his younger compatriot Martinů. These works dazzle with folk-inspired melodies and rhythms, and reflect the deep-rooted folk connections of the country. Alongside this you can hear a beautiful early work by Debussy full of singing melodies and warmth of sound.

Tickets are available now from ashbournelink website, from Natural Choice on St John Street Ashbourne (cash only) or on the door.

Local residents have organised a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing at The Link Centre on Thursday 29th October.

Free tickets are available here:
https://www.tickettailor.com/events/vivramsey/2404086

The film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature.

It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain, and what the evidence says about risks and responses.

The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and is supported by a wide range of organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.

The film presents expert evidence on increasing climate-related risks, including flooding, heatwaves, infrastructure stress and systemic disruption.

The Arts Society Dove Valley, Ashbourne meets on the second Wednesday of each month in Century Hall at The Link Centre

On Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 2.15pm their lecture will be:

Thomas Heatherwick: A Modern Leonardo with lecturer Ian Swankie

The past decade has seen the meteoric rise of this extraordinary versatile British designer with his acclaimed Olympic cauldron, the iconic new London bus and designs for a spectacular new HQ building in Kings Cross for Google. Over the last thirty years the Heatherwick Studio has used an intriguing combination of curiosity and experimentation to produce a vast range of solutions to design challenges around the world. This lecture looks at the problems presented and the wonderfully creative ways in which Heatherwick and his team have responded.

Ian is an official guide at Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Guildhall Art Gallery and St Paul’s Cathedral with a contagious enthusiasm for art and architecture. He is also a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Art Scholars.

They look forward to seeing you and welcome anyone wishing to join – or as a ‘taster’, come as a Visitor for a donation of £10.00 and see what The Arts Society Dove Valley has to offer.
