Big Little Theatre For the best kids party packages. Themed parties, Magic show, disco & games packages, bouncy castle, I live in Kirk Ireton Derbyshire with my wife Mrs Dizzy.

Hi
My name is Paul and I have been a childrens entertainer for many years as 'Dizzy The Wizard'. We have been married for 13 years and have a busy household full of children. Some of our own and also some foster children. I have been an entertainer all my life. Magic was a childhood hobby, inspired by a family friend (pictured 1st left) who was a magician and my inspiration to become a magician. A

s a young boy I was very excited travelling to holiday camps in Devon and Somerset to watch his shows. He also took me to 'Magic Circle' events which for an eleven year old was incredibly exciting. When I was thirteen years old I was asked to do a magic show for a 5 yr old's birthday by a Dad who saw me in a variety show at my local boys club. I did the boys party and everything that has happened since is because of that one event. I had 'proper jobs' in my teens and early twenties but also continued part time doing children's parties up until the age of twenty six, when, with the help of the 'Princes Youth Business Trust' I became a full time entertainer. At this time Karaoke was very popular. I'd sung many times in my bedroom but never in front of a crowd before. So I went for it and having gained some experience and an amount of confidence I entered some Karaoke competitions and to my amazement won a few. I had been itching to work at a holiday camp having had such fond memories of my childhood visiting them. Although I was starting to get a little long in the tooth for such work (age thirty by this time) I decided to audition for 'Butlins' and with my magic and new found talent of singing got the the role as a 'Principal Redcoat'. I spent three memorable years at the 'Southcoast World' resort in sunny Bognor Regis and performed in Panto, Production Shows and as a singer and compere. It was a great experience, performing to large crowds nearly every night and having had all this singing experience I auditioned for ITV's ‘Stars In Their Eyes‘ and in March 2002 I appeared on the show as 'Bono' from U2. What an amazing but also terrifying experience, walking onto the 'Stars' set and meeting Mathew Kelly for the first time. I went on to form a U2 tribute band called U2UK, we're still together 15 years on, performing in theatres and festivals at home and abroad.

I'm having a sort out and getting rid of a few of my magic tricks. Are there any budding young magicians out there that would love these items.

I'm offering these free of charge but would like them to go to someone with a real interest and love of magic.

If there's a few people interested I'll draw names from a hat.

Some great professional magicians items in here in excellent condition.

1. Magic Painting Trick - Postcard from pet rabbit 'Snowy' on holiday - Needs re-painting but solid with no damage.
Made from solid wood. You will just need to change the address on the front of the envelope to one of your choice. It stands solid on the table with two metal pull-out feet.

2. Change bag - Great condition
A lovely blue, velvet change bag in perfect working condition. A lovely item.

3. Colour changing CD's - Perfect condition
You show black and white CD's, but place them into the sleeve and put a red, blue, yellow handkerchief through the hole in the middle of the sleeve and the CD's change colour to match the colour of the silk handkerchief.

4. Multiplying golf balls - perfect condition - Instructions included
A set of 3 yellow golf balls and one half 'shell'.

5. Magic painting palette - perfect condition (instructions not required)
A great addition to the magic painting trick.

6. Houdini thumb cuffs, an escape trick - perfect condition - Instructions included

7. Magic appearing bubbles (for a smaller hand) - perfect condition - Instructions included

8. Small box of a few tricks. This is just a box of children's tricks as opposed to professional products - perfect condition.

9. Jumbo Cards (Full set) - Good condition

Oh my, so the Leisure supplies show just came and went and I couldn't make it this year. I was gutted. My brother had booked tickets for us to go and see David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall.

Now don't get me wrong I'm so glad we went it was a great show and a great way to spend time with my brother and Nephew, plus I saved some money as I couldn't be tempted to buy anything else :-)

However, I made the mistake of looking at pictures and video clips from the Leisure show to see what I had missed and oh dear, I shouldn't have.

I am so tempted by these new inflatable designs and I wanted to run these past you all to see what you think.

Should I take the leap?? and if so which are your favourites?Hmmmm decisions, decisions.

Perhaps you could place all four of them in your preference order :-)

Love this 🙂

So, Im very pleased to say first of all that the bouncy castle is back where it belongs. The questions on all of your lips is, 'where did it go', 'who took it'?..

First of all can I say a big thank you to you all. I'm really touched by all your help sharing the post, helping to find our missing inflatable and your kind comments about our great service :-). It wouldn't have found it's way home without you.. or maybe it would have.

This Sunday just gone and after seeng my post I had a text come through to say..

'Hi Paul, just wondered when you were coming to collect the pirate ship bouncy castle? We were expecting you last Monday.

Now, while I feel completely daft about posting this I'm going to share the story. I feel you all deserve to know.

So, the customer (who will remain anonymous, lol) booked out our Dinosaur bouncy castle for Friday 16th June. When I turned up customer says "I wish id booked it for the weekend now'. I said "I'll have a look to see if it's available''. It wasn't available so I said no problem, what we'll do is bring another to replace it when we collect it later today. The one we replaced it with was the Pirate Ship castle.

Now this little scenario hadn't happened before (collecting a bouncy castle and immediately replacing it with another) so we, (ok I) didn't make a new booking for the pirate ship or change the existing booking.

So, when it comes to checking the stock later that day we had everything back in that had gone out (according to the booking system)

The pirate ship castle wasn't out the following weekend so we (ok, me again) didn't miss it until this Monday when I noticed we didn't have all the BIG Little Theatre safety mats in, so then I checked again and noticed that the Pirate ship castle was indeed missing. So I checked the booking system and the last booking showing for it was at the Royal Oak Mayfield, so my conclusion was we (yes ok me again) had left it there. So I phoned Jean at the RO to ask if the castle was still in the garden, to which she replied "Nooo". She then sent photographic proof from the CCTV of me collecting it on the night of Sunday 10th June 7.30pm (is this starting to sound like a murder mystery?) Thank you very much Jean & Sid :-)

So, I'm starting to wonder what on earth had happened to it as I had no other deliveries/collections after getting the Pirate ship castle from the RO and I didn't go anywhere other that straight home afterwards. So I came to the conclusion that i must have rolled it up and left it lean't up against the pub on the pavement with the mats to dry a little while I collect the tarp and pegs and then put them in the van, then drove off without the castle and mats and an opportunist thieving little git had made away with it at some point, probably during the night. The other possibility is that I'd left it on the drive at home to dry and it had been taken from there... by a little thieving git.

So I phoned Jean again (probably about 4 times in all, sorry Jean) to ask if their CCTV covered the road but it didn't, so I went to Shentons Garage the next day and spoke to Sarah behind reception who kindly offered to look at their CCTV (Thank you Sarah at Shentons Garage). I felt confident that would provide at least an answer to part if not all of the puzzle. However their CCTV apparently is only triggered by movement on their side of the road so there was nothing to shed any light on the situation.

So feeling completely deflated and frustrated at not knowing what happened to it and frustrated that I couldn't flippin remember was doing my head in.

With no other idea what to do I made the 'MISSING PIRATE SHIP BOUNCY CASTLE' post as you all know.

So, there you have it. I hope you've all had a good ol' giggle at my expense and embarrassment, lol.

Thankfully the said customer didn't ask for a £500 reward :-)

Hi Folks

I'm gutted to say that we've had our Pirate Ship bouncy castle stolen. I know of know of no other local company that has one of these so chances are that if you see one at a party locally it's ours.

Whoever has it knows it's ours also as they have the mats that go with it with with our logo on.

If anyone knows of it's whereabouts then we are offering a reward of £500 for its return if it's not been damaged.

NO questions asked.

If you could share this around. I'd be really grateful.

Thank you
Paul
