Hampshire Wedding DJ, Master of Ceremonies Alan Marshall Celebrations, I understand the key to a great Wedding Reception is great entertainment & personalization. Your Love Story is the reason your family and friends are gathered together on this one day to celebrate your wedding. I believe that to create a truly memorable day you should share elements of your story so that everyone understands just how important those few special hours together really are.

Your wedding timeline may move.

That does not mean anything has gone wrong.
Speeches can run over. Photos can take longer. A room turnaround might need a little more time. Guests rarely move with military precision.

The key is to plan where the flexibility lies before the day arrives.

When I talk through a wedding with a couple, I am not only looking at the timings. I am looking at what should be protected, what can move, and who needs to know if something shifts.
That way, you are not pulled into decisions when you should be enjoying the room.
A calm plan gives your day space to breathe.

This week’s Sunday Soul is Lamont Dozier – Why Can’t We Be Lovers.
Released in 1973, it’s a beautifully smooth slice of soul from one of the great architects of the Motown sound. Stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, Dozier delivers a groove that’s warm, laid-back, and effortlessly soulful.

There’s a calm confidence to this track — rich instrumentation, a steady rhythm, and a vocal that feels both relaxed and deeply expressive. It’s a record that doesn’t need to push; it simply settles into its groove and lets the feeling speak for itself.

Follow Sunday Soul each week for more 45s that bring timeless soul, groove, and feeling into your Sunday. What’s your favourite Lamont Dozier track?

Before the details take over, try choosing three words for your wedding.
Not colours. Not a theme. The feeling.
Relaxed, joyful and family-led.Elegant, warm and full.Intimate, fun and unhurried.

Those words become a simple filter for the choices ahead. Timings, music, speeches, photos, room layout and the evening flow all become easier when you know what the day is meant to feel like.

The best weddings are not built by adding more and more. They are shaped by making decisions that belong.

If you are planning your wedding, send me a message and tell me your three words. And if someone you know is getting married, please share this with them.

My Moments of Magic – Leanne: Not a Single Dry Eye

Every now and then, a couple asks something that isn’t “standard”.
Leanne did exactly that—she asked if I’d be willing to step into a different role and help shape a ceremony that felt properly personal.

Afterwards, she said:
“I don't think there was a single dry eye in the room.”

That’s not about performance. It’s about honesty. The right words, in the right order, with the right tone—so the room feels what the couple feels.
When that happens, the whole day changes. The evening doesn’t start from scratch. It builds from something real.

What I’ve learnt: – Personal always beats generic. – Words can set the emotional temperature of the room. – When the ceremony lands, everything after it lifts.

Much love, Alan

Thanks so much for sharing this highlight from Zak and Andrew’s wedding.

, you absolutely captured the energy of the night — the atmosphere, the people, the joy, and those little moments that made the celebration feel so personal.

I loved being part of it as DJ, helping keep the evening moving and making sure the dance floor matched exactly what Zak and Andrew wanted their night to feel like.

A brilliant couple, a brilliant room, and a wedding I will remember for a long time.

Your wedding plans will change.

That does not mean anything has gone wrong.
It usually means the day is becoming more real.

A song becomes important. A family moment needs more care. A timeline shifts because the people you love matter more than the plan on paper.

That is why I keep the conversation open between booking and the wedding day. Not to complicate things, but to make sure the celebration still feels like you when it arrives.

The best plan is not rigid. It is clear, calm and alive enough to grow with you.

Save this for your planning folder.

This week’s Sunday Soul is Minnie Riperton – Lovin’ You.
Released in 1974, it’s one of the most delicate and recognisable love songs ever recorded. Built around a gentle acoustic arrangement, Minnie’s voice floats effortlessly above the melody, creating a moment of pure intimacy.

What makes this record unforgettable is that extraordinary vocal — soft, warm, and reaching those iconic high notes with absolute grace. It’s a song that feels almost weightless, a beautiful reminder that sometimes the simplest recordings carry the deepest emotion.

Follow Sunday Soul each week for more 45s that capture the beauty, tenderness, and timeless spirit of classic soul. What song instantly takes you to a peaceful place the moment it begins?
