Love your first-dance song, but feel a little daunted by dancing through the whole track?

Listen to it together from beginning to end. A long introduction or instrumental section can feel quite different when you imagine all your guests watching.

You might love every second. Or you might prefer a shorter version that keeps the words and musical moments that mean most to you.

This time last Sunday…

A box of 45s, two Technics and the opportunity to play some of the music I love at PBX Europe in Amsterdam.

A week later, looking through these photographs has brought it all straight back.

There’s something about playing music this way that I never tire of. Choosing the next record, taking it from the sleeve, putting the needle down and seeing where the music takes you.

No laptop. No playlist mapped out in advance. Just records I’ve collected because I love them, played one 45 at a time.

And judging by the smile on my face, I think it’s fair to say I enjoyed myself.

Thank you to everyone at PBX Europe for having me, and to everyone who stopped, listened, danced, talked music or simply shared the moment.

Amsterdam, you were rather special.

The music. The memories. The feeling.

Most couples want their wedding to run smoothly.

Far fewer want it to feel as though it is being run.

One supplier described my MCing as keeping the event moving without guests feeling “under any pressure or being ‘herded’ along.”
That balance matters.

Good hosting is not constant announcements. It is knowing when a clear cue helps, when a warm introduction adds something, and when the best thing is to let people enjoy the moment.

My Moments of Magic – Steve: The Invitation Back
Some reviews tell you what someone thought of the wedding.
Steve’s told me something about what happened afterwards.
He wrote:
“we plan on using him next year for our friends to renew their wedding vows and us to celebrate our first year of married life.”
That is a rather special compliment.

Being trusted with one important day means a great deal.
Being invited back into the next chapter means something different again.
It tells me that the relationship did not finish when I packed the last cable away.

What I’ve learnt: – Trust can outlast the event itself. – The best recommendations are deeply personal. – Sometimes one celebration opens the door to another.

Wedding planning has a habit of following you around in your head.

A timing to confirm.
A name to remember.
A song to revisit.
A conversation still to have.
I don’t think you should have to reconstruct your own wedding every time you sit down to plan it.

One couple described my planning support as giving them “answers to questions we hadn't known we needed to ask yet!”

Couples spend a lot of time choosing their first dance.

I think the final few minutes deserve some thought too.

Not simply which song plays last, but what you actually want the room to feel like when your wedding reaches its finish.

Do you want everyone together for one final big moment? Something slower? A singalong? Time for a proper goodbye?

Once I know the ending you want, I can help think backwards from it — the timing, announcements and little transitions that allow it to happen naturally.

The aim is simple: your celebration should finish because you chose how it ends, not because somebody suddenly notices the clock.
