We are extreamly excited for September to welcome our NEW after school club - more details below !!

Hello everyone, my name is Yana.😊
Some of you know me as Pasha and Misha’s mum, some as a lunchtime supervisor at school, and others from my dance class.
By profession, I am a choreographer and ballet master with a master’s degree, and I have been working with children for over 18 years. My former students are now dancing in various countries around the world.
Why am I telling you all this?
Because we have put together a wonderful team and opened the Creative Carousel after-school club.
At our club, we offer two-hour sessions which include dance, singing, drama, and crafts.
Our singing teacher is a professional vocalist and winner of vocal competitions, who was also a guest performer at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.
Our crafts teacher won first place this year at the “Pop Up Gallery” in Redditch.
I have already told you a bit about myself.😉
We invite your children to join our friendly and fun group from September 2025, every Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00pm at St Laurence Church and the Ark, Alvechurch, School Lane, B48 7SB🎊

We bring you this weeks notices and worship times.

Would you like to help out at services? Whether it be greeting people before worship, preparing refreshments after the service, lead the church in prayer or read from the bible. If you can help in any of these ways, you can sign up using the sheet on the font, contact Penny in the office or speak to Revd Gail. Let’s work together to ensure St Laurence continues to be a place of welcome, prayer, and belonging for all.

We remain deeply committed to caring for the churchyard as best we can. A small but faithful team—currently just three people—continues to meet on Monday mornings (10am–12pm, April to October) to maintain the more actively managed areas. Led by Brock Brakes, this team undertakes mowing, hedge trimming, and general upkeep such as clearing brambles and nettles. We are so thankful for their dedication, but more help is urgently needed to continue this important work. If you are able to help this team in any way, please contact Charlotte in the church office and she will pass your details on.

If you’ve spotted the scaffolding around St Laurence, it’s all part of our ongoing tower restoration. The work is taking a little longer than planned, as more repairs are needed—but it’s all to keep our beautiful building safe for generations to come.

One key task underway is de-frassing—removing loose mortar and flaking stone. This helps identify what needs replacing and prevents anything falling from above!

Thanks for your patience and support as we care for this treasured part of village life!

What an entertaining evening we had last weekend enjoying the concert from Oakville Singers and Alvechurch Middle School Choir, Vox Anima raising funds for the church organ. Not only was the music wonderful but very emotional too. Thank you to everyone who took part and who attended. We must do it again soon!!

We bring you this weeks notices and worship times.

On one day a year, we focus on the work of our wider mission links—this year, Zimbabwe. Our link is with the work of Montgomery Heights Christian Care Centre, which cares for orphaned and vulnerable children. People may well remember Sally Bubbers, our last vicar's wife. Her sister Fiona is their resident nurse at Montgomery.
On Sunday, we will offer a flavour of life in Zimbabwe through our church services, shared lunch, and information displays. We will also recommit ourselves to pray for them and raise funds.

Everyone welcome.
