You’re Invited to Celebrate Advent and Christmas with Us!

Across St Laurence and St Leonard’s, we’re preparing to celebrate the heart of Christmas — light shining in the darkness, hope renewed, and love shared in community.

Whether you’ve been to church often or not for a while, you’re so welcome to come and be part of the story.
There’s something for everyone — quiet reflection, joyful singing, carols, candles, and hot chocolate too!

We bring you this weeks notices and worship times.

November is a month shaped by remembrance. We pause to honour those who gave their lives in war, we recall loved ones no longer with us, and we hold their memory with tenderness and gratitude. But remembrance is never just about looking back, it’s about allowing what we remember to shape how we live now.

Join us this weekend as we remember.

After two wonderful years of festive joy, friendship, and full plates, we’re delighted to say that our Christmas Day Community Lunch is back for a third year!

Each year, this special celebration has grown — not just in numbers, but in warmth and connection. Thanks to the amazing support from volunteers, donors, and our wider community, Christmas Day at St Laurence has become a place where no one needs to spend the day alone.

Our Christmas Lunch is open to everyone — individuals, couples, families, and friends — anyone who would enjoy good company, good food, and good cheer on Christmas Day. It’s more than a meal; it’s about belonging, sharing stories, and finding joy together on a day that can sometimes feel difficult or lonely.

If you know someone who might appreciate some companionship, please spread the word! Booking ahead helps us plan, but if Christmas morning arrives and you decide to join us at the last minute — you’ll be warmly welcomed.

How You Can Help

Events like this are only possible because of the generosity and teamwork of people like you. There are so many ways to get involved — big and small:

Decorating & Setup: Help us turn The Ark into a festive wonderland.

Cooking & Serving: Join the kitchen team or lend a hand with food preparation and table service.

Transport: Could you offer a lift to someone who might otherwise struggle to get here?

Clearing Up: Stay a little while after lunch to help tidy and share a final mince pie with the team!

We also welcome donations, decorations, or small gifts to make the day even brighter.

We’ll be holding a Volunteer Meeting on Monday 1st December at 7pm in The Ark, to plan and coordinate roles. If you’re curious or keen to help, come along — there’s a place for everyone.

Right now, we especially need help spreading the word — delivering leaflets, putting up posters, and letting neighbours know that this is happening again.

Let’s Make Christmas Special — Together
Every smile, every shared plate, every conversation makes a difference. Let’s continue the tradition of warmth, generosity, and welcome that makes this day so special.

For more details, to book or to volunteer, please contact the Church Office.

Come and join us — because no one should feel alone on Christmas Day.

We bring you this weeks notices and worship times.

The scaffolding is nearly down and the tower is looking great so why not join us this weekend and take a look for yourself.

On Sunday in addition to our normal services we have the service to commemorate the departed at 6pm. A quiet and gentle service when we remember those who have died giving thanks for the love they shared and the lives they lived.

Join us together in prayer and silence and light a candle for a loved one.
