FIRST wedding anniversary congratulations to Georgia Robinson and Tom, one year on from a fabulous day at Abbey House. A day of memories and much appreciated reviews; not only from the happy couple, but also from Pauline Carroll, one of their guests: ‘Where to begin…. Bob was amazing from the get go! He stayed in contact with us from booking right up to the day! He made our day run so smoothly and helped to make sure that everything was perfect! My mum was very nervous about walking down the aisle on her own after everyone had taken their seats so Bob stepped in and walked her down the aisle! We cannot thank you enough! We are so glad we booked him as he made our day perfect! Thank you so much for everything Bob.
All our love. Mr & Mrs Robinson'
‘We attended the wedding of our friends at the Abbey house this weekend. Bob helped to make the weekend for us. He is amazing he makes it so personal. And everything flows smoothly because he’s there. Lovely person’
Thank you, once again to Georgia, Tom and Pauline. x

A BIG DAY - A BEAUTIFUL DAY. On 24 May I supported Mary-Anne Kilroe & Jamie Colman, during their wedding ceremony and celebration at Abbey House. Although we were hit with rain for the first time in some weeks, it stayed fine long enough to have the ceremony outside – the first ceremony to take place in the recently completed wedding garden at Abbey House. It was great to keep some 200 guests informed as to what was happening, where, when and why. Thanks to a change in the days schedule, there were extra big smiles on the faces of the groom and best men, as they were able to watch Sunderland win promotion to the Premier League. My sincere thanks to those guests who kindly donated to my fundraising appeal, in support of The Brain Tumour Charity

A FITTING TRIBUTE. Recently (16 May 2025) I had the honour of writing and delivering the Celebration of Life service for Alice Jones at Altrincham Crematorium, working alongside Kenneth Dewey & Sons Funeral Directors Timperley. During the hour-long service, I read tributes on behalf of Alice’s grandchildren Mark & Hayley and great-grandchild, Olivia and introduced ll Divo’s English version of 'Mama', as a tribute from her daughter, Sue. The service closed with me introducing one of Alice’s favourite songs - Smokie’s ‘Living Next Door To Alice’ – and her favourite chorus; ‘bleeped’ for her final farewell – a very fitting tribute. RIP Alice.

2025 MARKS 10 YEARS since I supported my first happy couple (John & Emma Nixon) in Cumbria on their wedding day at Abbey House – and the first time I worked with Steve Hillman Wedding Photography. Since then, Steve Sid Hillman and I have worked together on many a wedding, ensuring couples get the photographs they want, as well as some they hadn’t even thought of - but we had! Steve always works hard to create fabulous relationships with couples and their guests and, as a result, delivers stunning images that become lasting memories. Ten years on, Steve Hillman is not only a wedding industry colleague but also a great friend.
Along with other superb wedding suppliers, we will both be at the Abbey House Spring Wedding Open Day tomorrow (Sunday 4 May 11am – 2pm), looking forward to chatting to visitors about how we can play our part in the ‘big day’. See you tomorrow.
Incidentally, Steve is the only photographer I’ve ever worked with who has been able to encourage two reindeer to gatecrash a wedding picture I featured in!

NEXT SUNDAY (4 May), I’ll be at the Abbey House Wedding Open Day, wearing my red tail jacket and chatting to visitors about how I work to ensure the ‘happy couple' stay chilled and enjoy a memorable wedding day. Come along from 11am and let me explain how I do it and, as a result, make a wedding day even more special. The stunning, new Wedding Garden will be there for all to see – a great addition to the Abbey House wedding offer! I’ll also be working alongside some incredible, fellow professional wedding suppliers, including Steve Hillman Wedding Photography - 2025 marks 10 years since I first worked with Steve Hillman. See you all next Sunday – I’ll be looking out for you.

At the start of March, I said I would put aside £1 a day to mark Brain Tumour Awareness Month and so I'm now delighted to have added £31 to my fundraising appeal, in support of The Brain Tumour Charity. It’s not a lot, but it all adds up – and it’s helped to get me just under £400 short of my current target of £12K. MANY THANKS to: Carolanne Millis-Jesson & Mark, Claire Walker & Scott Walker, Alison Glover & Andy Glover, Elise Eacott & Paul Eacott, Katie Wells & Marc Wells, Emma Curtis & Wayne Curtis, Georgia Robinson & Tom Robinson, Sam Blizzard & Richard Blizzard, Jane Morrison & Mo Morrison and Lisa Winter & Craig Winter. Ever since I launched my Event Host and Toastmaster business I’ve always believed ‘it’s what my clients say that matters to me’ and have been very grateful to people for the reviews and quotes they’ve given me about my work. Last weekend, at the Abbey House wedding Open Day and to coincide with Brain Tumour Awareness Month, I shared quotes (chosen at random) from just a few of my many clients who, along with their guests have, over the last three years kindly donated to my ongoing fundraising appeal. Many thanks, once again to them for their words of support and their financial support for my appeal, in support of The Brain Tumour Charity: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bobwilliams25

A BUSY DAY was had yesterday at the Abbey House Wedding Open Day. Met some fabulous visitors and, hopefully, some will become clients. Since starting my business, l’ve believed ‘it’s what my clients say that matters to me’ and l promoted that approach on my stand by featuring client quotes. The quotes did their job, with some visitors to my stand commenting on them and, in conversation with some visitors, I used them to help explain the job l do. The remodelled Cavendish Suite looked fantastic.

Looking forward to meeting and chatting to visitors, working alongside some great fellow professional wedding suppliers and with the excellent wedding/events team at the Abbey House Wedding Open Day on Sunday (9 March, 11am – 3pm). Can’t wait to have the chance to talk about what I can do for a happy couple on their big day, explain how 'Every picture tells a story' and clearly show how ‘it’s what my clients say that matters to me’. To coincide with Brain Tumour Awareness Month, I’ll be sharing quotes from just a few of my many clients who, along with their guests have, over the last three years kindly donated to my ongoing fundraising appeal in support of The Brain Tumour Charity: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bobwilliams25

1 FOR CHANGE: Today (1 March 2025) sees the start of Brain Tumour Awareness Month so, as part of my continuing fundraising and awareness campaign, in support of The Brain Tumour Charity I’m putting £1 aside every day throughout March; meaning I can add a further £31 to my appeal at the end of the month – not a lot, but it all adds up. I’m calling it ‘1 for change’ simply because, as well as a £1 a day contributing to my 25in25 appeal, I’m one of the thousands of people doing their best to change people’s understanding and awareness of brain tumours.
I’m so grateful to all those who have supported my fundraising since January 2022. However, if anyone feels able to join me in putting £1 a day aside for the 31 days of March, in aid of my appeal, it would be very much appreciated. Having been asked by his wife Kath and daughter Lisa Darby, I was honoured to write and last Friday (25 January 2025) lead, the Celebration of Life Service for John Herdman at Carleton Crematorium and Cemetery, Blackpool. John was the ‘founding father’ of the Northern Guild of Toastmasters forty years ago. Back in 2006, through a friend, I met and chatted with a member of the Guild who encouraged me to apply for membership. I decided to think about it but, just a few days later, I was walking down the aisle in my local Sainsbury’s, when my mobile rang and a loud voice said, “Where’s your application - why haven’t we received it – get it filled in and sent in NOW!” That was my opening contact with John, who would go on to have a great influence on my involvement with the Guild and my work as a toastmaster over the years and I will be forever grateful to him.
Thank you, rest in peace, John.

LAST FRIDAY, had a great day, with the support of Louise Williams; my very own little helper, exhibiting at the Abbey House Wedding Open Day. We met some fabulous couples - thank you for coming over to my stand and chatting - and worked alongside some excellent fellow wedding suppliers*. Now busy responding to a great number of very positive enquiries. Delighted that my new promotional cards went down so well - thank you Jamie Bell and BT Photographic. Thanks to Laura Jayne Ellis, Lauren Gee, Rob Grimshaw, for the work they put in to pull the event together. Thanks also to Jennifer Curtis for popping in for her THANK YOU hug, after the fabulous donation she made to my The Brain Tumour Charity appeal and for then encouraging her friends to do the same. As we left, remembered to get a ‘memory’ shot of the Cavendish Suite bar area before it gets redeveloped - to help make Abbey House an even better wedding venue of choice.
