🚨 LEANING INTO THIS ONE TODAY TEAM 🚨

Ya know, before WINE, it’s was all about the BEATS for me. I was obsessed with either drumming on something, recording little sounds into a mini disc recorder and then actually making music.

The past 10 months have been a real throwback to this side of my creativity and so making music again, purely for fun, has been both a tonic, a calming mechanism and a massively progressive side to me that was very suppressed when I used to live in Surrey, if I’m being honest.

So anyway, if you fancy having a listen, head over to my page (link in bio and also on my stories).

There’ll be something for you I reckon. 😉 🎶 🍷

A little about me and Wines+Bites+Beats

I started working today in the booze industry way back in 2007 working for a huge drinks company. I spent a lot of time working on big brands such as Martell, Jameson and Chivas before moving over to the wine arm of the company. I worked supporting the brand teams for Jacobs Creek, Campo Viejo and Brancott Estate. Awesome times doing a fair bit of travel and sat all my qualifications to further enhance my knowledge and know how when it came to wine.

The whole thing for me was more about the fluff and the flair of huge budgets supporting the product, which, whilst exciting, I was way more passionate about what was inside the bottle and not what it looked like. So in 2011 I started working for a wine importer in west London where I am still at now, as my main job. I do lots of staff training in restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs getting people enthused about wine.

I wanted to be a chef when I left school, so worked in some hotels for a bit then though “Nah, f**k that, the hours are nuts!”. I little bit of a regret now.

My biggest passion though is WBB, which I have been doing for the past 6 years and it’s basically my side hustle and something I enjoy at weekends mostly and he gained big traction over the past two years.

A big part of my life too is music. I used to DJ a lot when I was younger and also produced for me and other people. I even had a white label printed on Fatboy Slims label in 2005! I’ve started making music again over the last 10 months and you can find me over at .music and also search for me on

So there you have it, I’m a wino through and through. Difference with me I think, is that I prefer not to conform, love to disrupt and communicate about wine in a way where I hope it’s far from snobby, poncey, w***y and dull.

Oh, I have no shame in saying that I love Backstreet Boys and Nsync too. Most of you know this of course. 😜

It just does.

Orange wine isn’t orange wine because it’s made from 🍊. This is a common Q I get. It’s called 🍊 wine because it’s more akin to the colour orange than it is WHITE wine and ROSE wine.

It’s made with white grapes and it’s colour, texture, more complex and texture Lyra curious flavour come from the fact that fermentation is does with skins. SKINS contain TANNIN, COLOUR and FLAVOUR. So it’s pretty easy really.

Ya feel me?

Daily dollop of Wallop in the form of one single photo. 🥩 and 🍷.

Everyone has their favourite combo. Could be ribeye and Cabernet, or Sirloin and Shiraz. Maybe it’s a medium rare fillet with a top claret or perhaps a massive f**k off porterhosue with a giant glass of Malbec. Either way, all of these work for one simple reason which I implore you all to consider; that where you have a mass of protein, you need a wine that has masses of tannin.

That’s it, the rest is down to you. Here I have a top drop of juice from the Dao region in Portugal to go with my bad boy ribeye 🥩.

Simply because it’s too damn funny not to share. Again. Yeah yeah I know!

Wine is fun, is it not?

Don’t take it too seriously. Yet drink decent gear and don’t settle for s**t wine.
Listen to those that know. Yet always rely on what you like and why.
Wine is like anything else in pop culture; it’s all about trends, patterns and cycles.
Always try something you wouldn’t normally have - what’s the worst that could f**king happen?
There’s over 12,000 legit grape varieties on this fair 🌎. That’s absolutely bananas! So if you like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (like every other sod) they’ll be at least another few hundred wines just like it. Verdejo for one (saucy little drop from 🇪🇸)

Leverage your beverage 😉 😊

What was the year?

1995. What a year. What a choon.

Any memories from this year?

In this year, MJ made his NBA comeback and this ABSOLUTE BANGER of a choon came out. Well, the remixed version by Deep Dish that is. I use this a lot in tastings. Gets the blood pumping and the palate ready!

This is a BEAT worth playing loud. Right?

Can you name the year?

What’s happening team? 🍷 🤶

I hope you’ve popped the cork on something sick today already?

So, I got a mixed case of reds from Naked Wines recently, and before I tell you what I think (proper honest, firm but fair) do any of you recognise these?

Would love to know your thoughts… 🤷‍♂️ 🤔

Hello - what’s good?

It was almost 4 months ago I last did a post here!! Wow, f**k a duck, that’s a long arse time!

Well anyway, a house move and quite a substantial relocation has taken priority in that time so that’s partly the reason, but the other, is that I much I prefer stories really. Can’t be bolloxed with posts most of the time. I’m certain there’s something I’m missing on some kind of ‘Insta Strategy’. Can’t quite be rectomed into that whole thing either tbh.

So anyway, to the new peeps I’ve met down here that love good wine, food and music here’s to 2022 and hopefully, time for some proper shindiggery where I can bring a little Wines+Bites+Beats to the coast.

As always, nothing but honesty from me, especially about wine, which is my area of expertise after all.

Here also to the old faithful followers that stuck with me. Thank you, truly.
