Week two at flower school and it was the return of the posie. I know they’re one of the fundamentals and make for a versatile piece, but I’ve always steered clear of them. They give me a 70’s vibe and not in a good way.

The guide said chrystanths and spray cars but I went rogue with a mixed bunch full of texture - oh and caved with the carnations. I’m trying to put my spin on things to get the most out of this course and really find a style. I added lots of foliage to give a more modern and wild look. Something a bit more ‘me’… hopefully!

Freshly picked and excitedly passed from soft, chubby toddler hands, these daily daisy gifts mean the world to me. 💛

A reminder that flower arrangements don’t always need to be big, bold and vibrant. It’s the thought, time and effort that goes into them that makes all the difference.

Last night I did something new. I went to my first ever floristry college course. Some of you will know that I worked for over 7 years at a local florist - every Saturday to start and then after school, big events, school holidays. More and more hours as I went through uni and then I eventually hung up my scissors in 2008 when I started my first post-uni job.

Although I was already familiar with much of what the tutor introduced last night, there are new-to-me topics on the agenda for the next 9 weeks. I’m looking forward to building my confidence again and expanding my knowledge. I’m especially interested in sustainable, eco-friendly techniques and stepping away from Oasis.

So here’s to never being too old to learn new things! 💙🐝
