St Elvan's is so thankful for the continued support of the amazing Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund. The fund supported St Elvan’s through the initial restoration and re envisaging of the building, and now continue to support the staffing of the St Elvan’s Community Heritage Trust and Spires Coffee Shop as we continue to develop our business model and offer to the local community, and to visitors to the church and region. TODAY! Our FREE monthly Book Club meets this morning from 11:00 to 12:00 followed by our FREE Open Heritage Research Group from 1:00 to 3:00 📚

The Book Club is held in Spires Coffee Shop, and features a short informal discussion around last month’s book. A new book is then selected by members to read and discuss next month 📚

Our Heritage Research Group meets on the first Monday afternoon of each month to delve into the history of St Elvan’s, of Aberdare and the surrounding community, and prepare activities, exhibitions and research to support our ongoing heritage projects. At present we’re focused on completing our new mining audio trail for the town and the forthcoming 175th anniversary of St Elvan's

Pop along to either session - or both! Meet new people, find interesting new reads or learn about local history and culture, here at St Elvan's, Aberdare

Spires coffee shop is also open throughout the day and daily throughout this week, serving hot and cold drinks and food, Monday to Saturday from 10-4 ☕️

This weekend marks a truly historic day, as - 195 years ago - the Red Flag was first raised on Hirwaun Common, in May 1831

Here at St Elvan's, we offer a FREE day of talks and open discussion, featuring a number of guest speakers, interspersed with spoken word by members of the famed Red Poets Society
