Contracts are not the most romantic part of a wedding. But they’re the part I never skip.

💡 I read every vendor contract, whether you choose full planning or coordination. The contract is the base of the service: it tells me what is planned and what is missing. Your wedding doesn’t have to fit into one afternoon. Jessie and Jack proved it.

Jessie mentioned a dream to me, almost in passing: a pre-wedding carnival day with a steel-pan band, a nod to her Caribbean roots. She felt a bit silly saying it out loud. Who finds a steel-pan band in the middle of France? Well, we did. In her review, Jessie called it one of the most special highlights for her and all her guests. And because they love water, the bride even swam in her wedding dress after the ceremony!

That’s what I love about being a destination wedding planner in SW France. I listen to the little things you say in passing, especially the ones that carry meaning. Then I find a way to make them real, while the logistics stay calm in the background.

💡 Use your wedding weekend to plan things you’ll probably never get to do again with all these people together. They can be simple, like a w**e and cheese tasting, a visit to a vineyard or a swim in the lake. Or bolder, like Jessie and Jack’s carnival. Both create memories your guests will keep.

Why would a wedding planner spend a day visiting a venue with other wedding vendors?

Because on your big day, I won’t be working alone. 🤍

At our latest .presta.time meeting, I toured near Toulouse: the reception space, the pool area, the cedar tree where secular ceremonies take place, the hotel for guests, and the restaurant where we had lunch together. And we train together on topics that help every vendor work better.

I love these days. I meet new vendors, and I get to know the regulars even better. Because I don’t only need to know what they do. I need to know who they are, so I can picture how they’ll fit into the team on your wedding day. I also discover venues, chat with their owners and taste caterers’ dishes, to keep my address book sharp.

For you, it means my recommendations are never just names on a list. They’re people I’ve met, talked with and trust to work with kindness and calm.

💡 Whichever vendors you choose, ask them if they’ve already worked together. A team that knows each other communicates faster, adapts better and brings more serenity to your day.

A château doesn’t need much help to look beautiful. It has already done most of the work for you.

I always ask my couples if they want flowers. And yes, they do! But we always agree on one thing: the château is already stunning, so we add flowers with a light touch.

My honest approach: a few well chosen flowers, placed with intention. For the ceremony, I love small bouquets along the aisle and a beautiful composition on the arch. Then a low, natural centerpiece on each table, nothing that blocks the view or competes with the château itself.

And those flowers don’t stay in one place. They move throughout the day, thanks to me and my wonderful assistants!

It’s not about spending less on flowers. It’s about making every stem count.

💡 My tip for you: plan your flowers to travel. The ceremony flowers can come and dress your cocktail hour. The arch can move behind the photobooth, or decorate the sweetheart table. One budget, several moments.

Planning your wedding in France from abroad? Some details never make it onto the checklist.

Deposits. In France, you pay a deposit to book a vendor, plus a security deposit for rented equipment, in case of damage. Many vendors ask for a cheque, which most international couples don’t have. A bank transfer is the usual alternative, but some banks only allow transfers within the SEPA zone. Many of my couples use an online transfer service like Wise.

Plugs. You probably think of adapters for your own devices. But you may need one for rented equipment too, like the sound system, if you want to plug your phone into it. Check every connecting cable with your vendor, and sometimes you’ll still need an adapter!

Contracts. By law, vendors based in France have you sign a contract in French. It’s confusing if you don’t speak the language.

None of this is complicated once you know it. It just gets stressful a week before the big day.

💡 My tip for you: before your first deposit is due, ask your bank if it can send transfers to France.

Full planning or coordination? Here’s how I explain the difference to every couple who asks.

As a destination wedding planner in SW France, I don’t work the usual way. But it works well for me and for my couples.

Full planning: we start from zero together (sometimes you already have your venue). We plan everything side by side. I’m at every vendor meeting from the very beginning, so I know exactly what you love and what you need.

Coordination: you book your suppliers, then I take over. My first step is always to re-read every contract and check everything that’s already been done. I look for what’s missing and I read all the small print.

Here’s the unusual part: you can sign coordination right at the start of your planning, not just a few weeks before the big day. Why? Because anticipation is the best way to secure your wedding. The earlier I spot a gap, the easier it is to fix.

And the sooner we start talking, the more time we have to build trust. Step by step, the mental load moves from your shoulders to mine, so you can fully enjoy your wedding day, with no to-do list in your head.

💡 Ask yourself one question. Do you have the time and the desire to search for your vendors yourself? If not, full planning gives that time back to you.

People imagine my life is all ch*****ne and wedding dress fittings. 🥂

Here's what a full planning day really looks like for me, as a destination wedding planner in the South of France.

In the morning, a video call with my couple in Australia (it's already evening for them), and answers to all your messages on Discord and Instagram. At lunchtime, a tasting. Early afternoon, a venue visit. Then phone calls with my vendors. And finally, a contract to read, line by line.

None of it is glamorous. All of it is the foundation of a wedding that truly works: checking everything, with every single vendor, so nothing is left to chance.

And after 6pm? That's my time to enjoy my family and rest, so I can start fresh and fully focused the next morning.

Some of my couples live on the other side of the world. Others come to France once before the wedding, and that day looks a little different from my usual one.

💡 My tip for you: if you plan to visit France before your wedding, get your preparations far enough along first. That way, one trip is enough to visit your venue, taste your menu, and meet your photographer and DJ in person. I organize every appointment, and I spend the day with you.

Most wedding venues are beautiful for one day. A family château is different: it becomes your home for the whole weekend.

That's what keeps coming up with the couples I work with, especially when they're planning their wedding from abroad. They're not just looking for a pretty backdrop for one night. They want somewhere their parents can stay down the hall, their closest friends can share a late breakfast with them on the morning of the wedding while they get ready, and their closest people simply being together, not just attending.

A proper family-style château usually means several bedrooms on site, a kitchen your group can actually use for a coffee or a snack between events, and enough outdoor space for a pool afternoon or a long lunch under the trees the day after the wedding.
It's less "wedding venue", more "the house we all remember forever."

💡 My tip for you: when touring a château, ask about more than the reception room. Ask how many guests can actually sleep there, and whether there's a kitchen, a pool, and shared spaces for the days around the wedding, not just the day itself.

Tag a friend who's dreaming of this kind of wedding weekend, not just a wedding day.

You find a venue. You fall for it. Then you analyze it, plan A and plan B.

Plan A: the sun is out, everything happens outside, exactly as you pictured it.

Plan B: it rains, or the wind picks up, or it's a heatwave. Nothing can happen outside without shelter. So you check the budget for a tent.

Your venue budget just becomes venue + tent. Does it still fit your overall plan?

For reference: a proper (little) marquee starts around €3,000, with flooring and lighting included. That number climbs with your guest count, and you'll likely need furniture too: chairs for the ceremony, tables for dinner.

This is exactly the kind of thing I bring up from day one of planning your wedding. Because if it isn't anticipated early, it won't fit the budget a month before the big day. (And by then, vendors may not even be available anymore.)

There's no right answer here. Only your answer.

Some couples want the full moment: the music, the sparklers, dancing until the very last one burns out, the first slice cut together, a toast with everyone watching. And when that's genuinely what lights them up, it's essential to plan it well.

Others feel exactly like I did on my own wedding day: standing next to a cake while everyone stares is not their idea of a good time. They'd rather get it over with and get back to their people.

Neither version is more "correct" than the other. What actually matters is that you know which one you are, before the day arrives. Because if nobody asks the question, you might end up doing the "traditional" version simply because no one told you it was optional.

That's exactly why I bring this up with every couple I work with, long before the wedding day. So the cake moment (or the absence of one) actually feels like you.

💡 My tip for you: if a "must-do wedding moment" makes you cringe just thinking about it, say so early. A good planner will help you skip it, or adapt it and make it yours.
